Ward 48

Chapter 5 [Edited]

Nicole walked up to the main door, while the other stood guard outside, making sure no one watched them trespass. If someone did catch them, they could say bye-bye to their future.

"Nicole!" Vera hissed. "What's taking so long?"

Nicole tried again to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. She let out an exasperated sigh. "The door is locked guys!"

"Let's walk around to see if there are any alternate entrances," Kayla suggested.

"We'll split up, and if one of us finds an entrance, call us," Vera said, walking off.

The girls went 4 ways, hunting for alternate entrances. Nicole was on the west side of the hospital, looking in the grass for some kind of key when her phone went off in her pocket.

"Hello?" Nicole asked into the phone.

"Nicole! I found an entrance on the east side of the hospital! It's a window, and it's broken!" Lucy said from the other end.

"Okay, that's great. Did you tell the others?" Nicole replied.

"Yes, and they're here. Hurry!" Lucy said, hanging up.

Nicole briskly walked over to the east side of the gate. Why would someone break open a window? What business could someone possibly have in a hospital like this?

When Nicole arrived, everyone was there waiting for her.

"You're here! Let's go before-" Vera was cut off by the sound of police sirens.

"When did the cops get here?" Nicole yelled, covering her ears.

"I don't know, someone must have seen us or something and called the cops on us for trespassing!" Kayla said.

"Quick, everyone inside!" Lucy said, jumping into the building, followed by Kayla and Nicole.

"Vera! Come on!" Nicole urged, the sounds of rubber boots getting closer.

"Okay! Okay!" Vera whispered fiercely as she jumped in, landing on some broken glass.

"OH MY GO-" Vera yelled before she got cut off by Kayla and Lucy muffling her mouth.

The girls stayed as silent as humanly possible. They heard a bunch of clicks, walkie talkies and what sounded like no more than 3 cops.

Once they heard the "All clear" from a walkie talkie, the girls began to relax.

"Okay, we're in," Kayla said.

They started walking towards what looked like the main lobby of the hospital. The reception desk was a total mess, with chipped countertops, cracked glass cubicles, broken light fixtures, and a jungle of cobwebs. They looked up and could make out signs leading to the various floors, restrooms, and elevators. A directory of all the departments was peeking out from behind a filing cabinet.

"Hey guys! I think we may have found a way to get around the hospital," Lucy said. They all gathered around the directory.

"Let's split up and turn on our tracking devices. If one of us sees something or gets lost, press the GPS button. Alright?" Nicole explained.

"Got it," Lucy, Vera and Kayla said in unison.

"Okay, Vera and Kayla, go as one group, and Lucy and I will go in another," Nicole said.

"Sounds like a plan. We'll meet back here in an hour, got it?" Lucy said, walking with Nicole.

The girls nodded and went their separate ways. Nicole and Lucy went down the South Hall towards Psychiatry and Vera and Kayla went down the North Hall towards Pharmacy.
