Upon entering the lab, they realized that they were in more in over their head.
"WOAH!" Vera exclaimed, her eyes shining. Nicole couldn't blame her. There were top-rate devices, lie detectors, fingerprint cards, trajectory string kits... you name it, they had it.
"Welcome to the Orchid Fields Crime Lab!" Rachel said, gesturing for them to go to the fingerprint analysis station.
"So, how does this work?" Lucy asked.
"Oh, that's right. You didn't do Crime Busters," Kayla said.
"Yeah, it didn't really interest me. Considering the fact I won first in regionals in Anatomy and Physiology, I think that's more my thing," Lucy said.
"Anyway," Rachel said, interrupting them, "what I do is I use a pink feather brush to dust off anything excess, like dust. Then, I put the tape wherever some fingerprints might be visible. I take the tape off, put it in the computer, and the database will compare it to the identities of the people of Orchid Fields and in the district,"
"So, you're saying that it could compare things from Rivercreek and Ashton?" Vera said, looking out the window at the setting sun.
"Yes, and we have to do it quickly! The lab is closing soon," Rachel said.
"How much time do we have?" Kayla asked.
Nicole glanced at her wristwatch. It read: 7:30. "We've got 30 minutes,"
Rachel groaned. "Luckily, before meeting up with you guys, I got the fingerprints off of some tools that the man used, as well as his accomplices and lackeys."
"Thank goodness!" Lucy exclaimed.
"We don't have a fingerprint database." Lucy remarked. "How are we supposed to figure this out?"
"I have an Uncle Danny, and he has the stuff that we need and the people we need to get this done. Let me email this fingerprint to him. He might have an answer. I'll tell him it's extremely urgent," Rachel said, picking up her phone and sending the print to her uncle.
Right away, she got a message from her uncle.
The message read: Young Lady! You are out of your mind if you think I will do anything of this sort! Is it a prank?
Reading the message, the girls slumped their shoulders.
"If we are ever going to solve this, we have to let my uncle in on the information," Rachel said, and everyone nodded their heads in agreement.
"But I have to call him. Let me go outside and explain the situation," Rachel said before going outside.
"Okay! Let her work her magic, and let's wait!" Nicole said, clasping her hands.
About 5 idle minutes of awkward silence, Rachel came back in the room with a happy expression on her face.
"My uncle agreed to give us the information, on the condition that we update him every time we have news," Rachel said.
"Yay! Let's-" Vera was interrupted by a ping and a happy shriek from Rachel.
"YES! Here we go!~" Kayla sang.
"Just one more thing, it takes some time for the identity to be found. It shows the original identity of the person. So, saying if they had a double identity, the original one would pop up," Rachel explained.
"Is it possible that some of the double ID could be shown?" Vera asked.
Rachel put her finger on her chin. "It is possible that maybe a little could show up, but it's highly plausible,"
