When She Talks

Her soul is restless,
Like the waves that crash on the beach.
She is reckless,
Like the boy who flew too close to the sun.

When she talks,
I can hear the hope in her voice,
The hope for a change,
IN a past that has already been settled.

When she talks,
I can hear the regret in her voice,
The regret for all the mistakes that she made.
I can hear her wanting,
To be someone better,
Than who she came to be.

When she talks,
I can hear her trying to forget,
All the scars engraved,
In her mind that seems to be set on repeat.

She is hurt,
Like a child who fell off her bike.
She is trapped like a lion that lives in a cage.

When she cries,
I can see that there is a pain,
Stuck in her heart.

When she cries,
I can see a story in her eyes,
A story that is forbidden,
for anyone to know.
When she cries,
I can feel the sorrow,
She hides within her soul.

She is broken,
Like a shattered mirror.
She is falling,
Like a dying leaf.
She is tormented,
Like a convicted felon.
She is struggling,
Like a drowning person.

But behind her soft voice,
And teary eyes,
She is beautiful,
Like wild horses.
She is strong,
Like the rushing current.
She is invincible,
Like the angels above.
She is brave,
Like the fallen heros.
She is okay,
Because she is mom,
And that's her job.

This is a tribute to my mom. Even though our relationship hasn't been easy I still love her and I'll always love her.
