Chapter 27: I’m gonna steal your heart away…
Rikki’s POV
“Please! Pretty Please? I need your help.”
“How am I supposed to help you?”
“You could lend me some of your clothes and tell me what to wear.”
“Why do you even care so much? You never have wanted to get all dressed up for Jake before.”
“I know but we’ve never been on date before.”
“Whoa! Hold on. A date? You two are finally going out? Hallelujah! It’s taken you two long enough.”
“What do you mean? I just realized that he wasn’t just my best friend anymore.”
“He told me last summer.”
Last summer? He has wanted to date me since last summer? Why didn’t he say anything?
“Oh. So will you help? Please Izzy. Be an awesome sister. Please.” I paused and waited for an answer, when none came I continued on. “I’ll love you forever…I’ll help you in school.”
“Alright, I’ll help you. And by the way I was planning on helping you when you told me it was a date.”
Then there is no way I am I helping her with homework.
“So, what should I wear?”
“Where are you going?”
“Movies.”
The silence has stretched for so long I am starting to believe she hung up on me.
“Alright, do you have a light colored tank top?”
“Yeah, what color?”
“Blue?”
“Okay what else?”
“Go to my closet and get my white cropped cardigan. The wear some actual jean shorts, not the ones you cut at the knee. Actual shorts. And wear either your blue and pink slip-ons or light blue flip flops.”
“Thank you!”
“So when is the date?”
“In one hour. Austin’s picking me up. So how’s LA?”
“Smogey. I hate it. But I want to make it on the big screen I have to be here.”
“Good luck.”
“Same to you. And call me after and tell me all about it.”
“Seriously?”
“Yes. Now get ready.” Before she ended the call, I could hear her laugh echo through the phone. I miss her being around here. Our birthday is in two days and for the second year in a row, we won’t be together. But this year Jake will be around.
Alright, time to get ready. First up, hair. Shall I leave it alone or … what should I do? I should have asked Izzy. I’m not good at this sort of stuff.
