If I Stay

Chapter 10

Its been almost a month since we moved to California. Dad came back about 3 weeks ago, & has been hanging out with Ricky & Nalla almost everyday. I dont really get the chance to spend some time with him because he wants to help Ricky get as much of his memory back as possible, so Ive been spending a lot of time with Jc, Sam, Kian, & Connor.

"Woah, whered you get that?" Connor asks, grabbing my baby blue penny board. I shrug. "My mum got it for me. She thinks I should get out of the house more, start looking for a summer job."

Kian sighs. "I want to work at Froyo." I rub his back teasingly, pouting. "& I want to work at Starbucks, but we all cant work at the places we want to live off of." The boys laugh, & get up off the sidewalk.

"Lets go!" I say, throwing my board onto the ground & jumping on it. "Oh sorry Tony Hawk." Jc says, smirking. He rides next to me, his arms out. I swat at his hand. "Stop that!" I giggle. He grabs my hand, interlacing his fingers with mine.

I blush, obviously.

"Hey love birds!" Connor hollers. I put my foot on the ground, stopping. "Lets go to Inn & Out!" Jc rubs his stomach. "Finally, some real food!" I chuckle, poking him in the cheek. "Lets head back fatty." I run back up to the apartment, leaving Jc behind.

"So what are you going to get?" Sam asks me, pointing at the menu. I shrug. "I havent eaten here before." The boys look at me with a serious expression on their faces. "Coutney, you have missed out on the best food in your entire life." Connor says, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Yeah Court!" Kian joins in, pursing his lips.

I roll my eyes. "Fine, ill have the biggest & best burger they have here." The boys all laugh, taking my statment as a joke. "Guys im serious. Since ive missed out on the best food in my entire life, i might as we try the best thing here, right?" They all nod their heads in unison.

"Very well then." I face the waitress, ill have whatever is your best & biggest burger." She smiles, nodding. "Alright. Ill be back." She smiles before walking off.

I turn to face Jc, whose eyes were eating away at the waitresses rear.

I hit him in the arm. "Ouch!" He says, rubbing his arm.

"What is wrong with you?"

"Nothings wrong with me! Im a guy, this is what guys do!" He playfully looks me up & diwn, licking his lips.

"Get over yourself, please. Youll be doing all of us a favor." I laugh. Jc gives me a smug look, a waved of anger flashing over him. "Oh please, get over YOURself. Just because youre Rickys sister doesnt mean shit. We dont HAVE to hang out with you & become your friend." He rolls his eyes.

Everyone at the table goes silent. "Fuck you." I say, before getting up & storming off.
