Chapter 8

|Bryce's POV

Mark and I walked into his house and I sighed loudly. We had just gotten back from wrestling practice and I was exhausted. Mark had to get in a shower, so I stayed downstairs and sat in the living room.

I then heard a noise coming from the kitchen. Confused, I got up and went to check it out. Madi was standing on her toes, trying to reach for peanut butter in the high cabinet. I chuckled before going over to the cabinet and grabbing it for her.

"Thanks," she hesitated and walked over to the bread. "Where's Mark?"

"Shower." I replied and leaned against the counter. "You should've seen him, he was sweater than ever. It was so disgusting."

"I bet," she giggled. Oh how I missed that. There was a silence between us for a little bit. "Hey, Bryce, I've been meaning to talk to you about something."

"Yes?" I furrowed my eyebrows and stood straight.

She was quiet for a few seconds. "I just wanted to say that I forgive you. Even though it was so hard to get myself to do so, I forgive you. I wanna look past the past and hopefully get things right with you. I don't want it to be awkward between us, I want it to be like we used to be; except the being in a relationship part."

She finally forgives me?

"You don't know how long I have been waiting to hear those words." I felt my lips curl into a smile as she looked down at her feet and smiled.

"You don't know how long I've been waiting to say them." She looked up at me and smiled.

The next thing I knew was that we were both leaning in. Then the next, I felt Madi's lip and mine connect.

This isn't right. She doesn't want to be in a relationship.

"Bryce?" I heard Mark's voice call from the living room. Madi and I both separated quickly as he walked in. I looked at Mark, confusion all over his face. "You guys okay?"

"Yea, why wouldn't we be?" Madi hesitantly replied.

"I don't know, you guys seem really jumpy."

"No, we're good." Madi said and grabbed her sandwich before going upstairs. Mark gave me a confused look again and went back into the living room. I followed him out there, trying hard to keep myself from smiling too much.
