Harry's P.o.v.

We had to take the tour bus back to the hotel, but luckily it wasn’t too far from the venue. I wasn’t sure how Serena’s…abilities…worked, but I didn’t ask if she could just “pop” up at the hotel when we arrived.

She had a frightened look in her eyes since the end of the concert and I figured she didn’t want to be left alone. She didn’t talk much on the way out to the tour bus, and in order to not appear insane and to give her some time to think, I didn’t ask much of her.

I climbed onto the tour bus and found most of the boys sleeping except for Liam who was on his phone no doubt Tweeting about the concert. The tour bus was set up nicely with a few seats behind the drivers side, and a bunk bed in the back. There was also a small tv way in the back. Liam was sitting in another set of seats on the left side of the bus with a small table attached to the wall.

“Hey man,” he said groggily placing his feet on the table in front of him.

  “Hey,” I replied.

“Good show tonight,” he commented with a small smile. “Fun time.”

“As always…” I collapsed into the seat beside him as Serena silently took the seat across from us.

“But,” Liam took his snapback off his head, flipped it around, and laid it over his face as he leaned his chair back, “I’m exhausted. G’night.”

Serena gave a small smile as she watched Liam.

We sat in a comfortable and necessary silence the half hour ride back to the hotel and while grabbing my belongings to take off the bus, I noticed she had disappeared. After saying goodnight to the boys and crew, it didn’t surprise me when she was waiting for me in my room.

What did surprise me though, was Niall. He was sprawled out across the bed nearest the window still in his “Crazy Mofos” t-shirt laptop in hand. Serena stood at the end of Niall’s bed, arms crossed, shaking her head, a very annoyed look on her face.

I put a hand to my forehead with a SMACK. How could I forget that Niall would be in the room? Why did I think Serena and I could talk here?

“You okay, man?” Niall asked with his thick Irish accent.

“Yeah, yeah,” I assured him. “Just really tired tonight that’s all…”

“Ah,” replied Niall. He looked at his watch. “Hey, do you think they still have food downstairs?”

I looked up. “It’s worth a shot.” This would get him out of the room for at least an hour.

“Alright,” Niall hopped off the bed and after grabbing the hotel key left the room in a hurry.

As soon as he shut the door, Serena growled, “You room with Niall?! Yes, Harry, this is the perfect place for us to talk about our problems.”

I moved into the rest of the room out of the small hallway in front of the door, and dropped my duffel bag on my bed.

“Our problems?” I asked. “You mean ‘your’ problems.”

“’Your’ problems,” she didn’t refrain from the use of air quotes, “insinuates I’m the only one with issues. Last I checked, you were seeing ghosts.” She placed her hands on her hips, proud of herself.

I made a face at her. “Fine, fine, whatever. Where did we leave off?” I took a seat on the bed running a hand through my hair.

“Well,” she moved over to a chair across from me set in front of small computer desk. “I was saying how I have no idea how you’re the only one able to see me…”

“Right…” I said suddenly very interested in the pattern of the hotel carpet.

“Do you know what it’s like to be invisible?”

I looked up at her.

She was also staring at the floor, all of the color drained from her face.

I hesitated unsure of how to answer. “Sort of…I used to.” Now? Not so much. The boys and I can hardly walk to our favorite restaurant without getting mobbed by either fans or paparazzi. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun. Most of the time.

“It’s awful.” She whispered as she bit her bottom lip.

I didn’t say anything willing to hear what she had to say.

“When I first…” she searched for the right words. “…appeared…I was in my hospital room. Staring down at myself. I wasn’t sure what was going on. I was so confused. My mother and boyfriend were there. I tried to get their attention, but…” She paused. “They looked right through me.” Her voice had lowered to just above a whisper.

I’d never seen someone so confused and distraught. I was unsure if I should move over to her and comfort her, I mean we hardly knew each other, but I needed to do something. I opened my mouth to speak, but she cut me off.

“I wasn’t there. The looks on their faces told me the truth. They could only see me lying in the hospital bed. Then in the blink of an eye I was here. In New York City. Everyone walked by me, through me, paid me no mind. I felt helpless and lost. And then you happened.” She looked up at me then and her eyes were glistening with tears. “You ran into me in that mass of people, and you saw me.”

I gave a slight smile. “Sorry about that by the way.”

“It’s ok,” she laughed slightly. She continued. “I was so shocked that I had to get away from you to try to figure out why you could see me and no one else could…can-“ she corrected herself.

“So you didn’t figure it out?” I asked her.

“No,” she shook her head. “I tried to talk to people at the coffee shop for awhile…and then you walked in…and you know the story from there.”

“You said before you were in a car accident?”

“Yes, with Ryan.”

“Right,” I said. “Do you know where?”

She opened her mouth to speak, but shut it. “I…don’t know.” She stood up a hand to her head. “My memory goes all fuzzy if I try to remember certain things before the accident.”

“Do you know where you live?” I found myself asking standard questions like a police officer or a medic.

She thought for a moment. “No.”

“What about your last name? When you introduced yourself you only gave me your first name.”

She answered with a shaky breath, “No.” She sat back down with her head in her hands. “What am I going to do?” Her voice was muffled.

I hesitated.

“We’ll figure it out. We have to try.” I felt like I needed to help her. No matter how crazy the situation seemed or was, I could tell she was frightened.

“You’re going to help me?” she looked up.

“Yeah…I can obviously see you for a reason, so we’ll figure it out. Together.”

She broke into a full smile and I felt my heart pound in my chest.
