*Here's a new chapter of the Rivalry, keep an eye out for the next one sometime next week!**---------------------------------------------------------------------
East Land Prep.
Tuesday, October 23. 12:25 P.M.
Kelly gracefully cuts the grilled steak as she listens to Angela talk.
"The Fabulous Clique keeps looking over here," Angela says, taking a mouthful of her Bulgarian Barista – a pastry made of Phyllo dough. "Did they lose something?"
"They're probably still upset at Kelly's indifference," Ashley mumbles, grabbing Spanish Tapas, which is different each week.
Ashley's offset tone makes Kelly curious, "Are you still upset about Mariana?"
Ashley throws Kelly a glare at the mention of the new girl. "I know I shouldn't be considering she's a senior and I'm a junior." Ashley shakes her head, her ponytail swinging along. "But she's here, and that's enough to bother me."
"You don't like her?" Kelly questions as she grabs a fry from her trey.
Ashley shrugs, "I haven't talked to her, so I wouldn't know."
"Why didn't she start yesterday?" Angela wonders.
"Don't know and don't care." Ashley retorts. "Can we move on?"
Angela shrugs, and so Kelly knows it is up to her to change the subject and ranks her brain for something to talk about. "I'm writing a feature about Homecoming Week." It had been decided yesterday at newspaper class, she was going to tell them, but because they had the Homecoming Committee meeting and then Ashley announced she was moving out, she didn't get a chance to. "I thought since I'm taking part in the planning of it, I have extra information to write, and everyone is so interested in it more than usual." Kelly looks around the cafeteria; the entire junior class is dressed in black and white, including the Fabulous Clique members. "So I figured why not?"
"I think that's a great idea," Ashley states with an approving nod.
"Will you be interviewing students?" Angela wonders.
Kelly nods, "Yeah, I spoke to Mrs. Goldham and she and Mrs. O'Bryant talked this morning." Kelly smiles proudly. "I will spend newspaper class interviewing students from each grade and taking pictures."
"Just today?" Ashley inquires, taking a hold of her cup.
Kelly shakes her head. "The rest of the week," Kelly answers happily. "The article will come out on Monday."
"Cool," Angela smiles at Kelly. "Will you interview us?"
"I thought about doing a bit on the Homecoming Committee," Kelly admits. "Maybe I could interview you two afterschool?"
"Why not now?" Ashley asks.
"I don't have my questions on me," Kelly admits, a sheepish smile on her face.
"So make up some," Angela says with a shrug. "Take your phone out and voice record it."
Kelly looks at both girls, taking in their serious state, Kelly does as told. "Okay, umm..." Kelly clears her throat. "What made you want to take over the Homecoming Committee?"
Angela looks over at Ashley, signaling for the latter to answer. "Well, I personally liked the idea of being involved with such a big event as Homecoming, and getting the opportunity to plan the week and the dance sounded pretty fun."
