Chapter 5: Perfection and Confession

-Arlo's POV-

"How lovely," Sebastian sat at the lunch table with Fernando and I. He wore a green shirt that had the word 'Hipsta' written across it. He wore blue jeans and nikes. Fernando and I told him what happened in first period, and outside with JC and I. "So you basically trashed his girlfriend, and didn't think she'd say anything to JC?" Sebastian looked at me as if I were stupid. The way he said it made me sound pretty stupid. Thanks Sebby! I rolled my eyes and he shook his head. "To sum everything up, Arlo is stupid and I'm hungry." Fernando said bitting into his homemade sandwich.

Grace walked up to the table-she was always late to lunch. "Guess what?" She said her smile trying to wrap itself around her whole head. "Hello to you to Grace." Sebastian and Fernando monotonously said in unison. "Shut up I'm talking," She sat down. "I talked to Brendan." Her smile was still trying to take over her face. "Don't your cheeks hurt?" I asked her but she only ignored me and pulled out her lunch. "He's so sweet." She sighed dreamily. Girls.

"Why are you telling us this?" Fernando asked uninterestedly. "Because I told him to sit with us today," I nearly choked on my strawberry. "Who's making who choke now?" Fernando whispered in my ear, he pulled back and winked. "Not you if that's what you were wondering." My heart race gained speed and I felt all awkward. He only gave me a goofy smile and turned back to Grace. "So that's why he isn't here." I said to myself glancing at where Brendan usually sat. I noticed that JC wasn't there either, not everybody that usually was seated there was there. Only three people were sitting. Julie, Conor, and Landon. It's not creepy that I know their names.

"So where is he?" Sebastian asked before sipping on his water. "I don't know. I saw him in the halls, that's why I was late. He should be coming-oh, there he is." She looked past Fernando and I. We turned to see JC, Brendan, and a girl walking in. I actually didn't know the girls name. She wasn't new, I've seen her around school before. I just didn't know what her name was. Maybe she didn't interest me enough?

I noticed the three of them was walking toward us. The girl and JC weren't really paying attention though.

"Guys," Brendan said once they reached out table. "This is Grace and her friends." Great, I was an "And her friends". Woopty-freaking-do. JC looked us over and when his eyes landed on my he looked pissed. "You again?" He made a face. I didn't answer, Sebastian moved to sit by Fernando, so the three newbies could sit with Grace facing toward us. "Brendan, these are my friends." Grace said giving Brendan a warm smile. "I'm Sebastian." The blond boy gave a slight wave. "Fernando." Fernando didn't look to happy to have them here and his voice was a hard a steel. "And I am Arlo. The sexiest beast in this-" I was going to say "school" when I got weird looks from JC and Brendan. "Uh, never mind." I awkwardly picked at my salad with my fork. "Well I'm Jewel," The girl said. I actually did remember her name. She had short, shoulder length auburn hair. Her eyes were gray and she had cheekbones that I wish were fake. Her skin was sun kissed and her lips were perfect.

She was just perfection. Her name was freaking Jewel.

"JC." He used almost the same tone Fernando had, just a little more friendlier. A little. "And I'm sure you know who I am." Brendan gave a soft chuckle that was kind deep.

"So, JC, you seem to know who Arlo was." Sebastian looked at me with amusement in his eyes. He's going to pay later. I glared at him through Fernando's head. "Tell us how you met." Grace joined in giving me the same look. Fernando quietly ate his sandwich looking like an innocent puppy. JC glanced at me then at Sebastian. "We aren't like friends, at all. He was being mean to my girlfriend. So I straightened him out." He shrugged, Sebastian snorted and mumbled something rude your breath. "What exactly did you say to Arabella?" Brendan looked over at me. Now the whole tables attention was on me. "Well I saw a picture of her in her bathing suit, and she was wearing make up. I think I asked something along the lines of 'who wears make up when they're going swimming?'. She had answered that she just wanted to pose in her bikini," I glanced at everyone and they looked like they wanted me to go on. Everyone but JC. "I forgot what I said after that but I remember her telling me something about "getting her boyfriend on my ass", JC smirked looking like his ego got boosted up fifty percent. "So I asked 'which one' and logged off because I wanted to save myself the trouble of dealing with her and getting a headache." I finished. Everyone-except JC, if course-looked like they had been trying to hide a smile. "Honestly..that was horrible, but the last part was..." Jewel trailed off when JC gave her a look. She was in the middle of Brendan and JC, with Grace in the right end of the table by Brendan. I sat in front of JC.

We talked normally after that. I got shy, which is a new thing for me. I never get shy. Having JC give me death glares every time he looked at me wasn't a good feeling. So I stayed quiet eating my salad and drinking my soda in my own little silence. "I don't think I have ever really seen a boy your age eat salad." Jewel was looking at my food then looked up to my face. "I like salad." I shrugged, I was very aware of JC's gaze on me. I tried not to squirm or anything. "You're cute Arlo. I like you." Jewel grinned, she was confident wasn't she? Well, she had every reason to be really. She was beautiful so why not be confident. "He wouldn't date you." Fernando finally spoke up looking straight at Jewel. She frowned a little and opened her mouth to say something but he cut her off. "You both swing for the same team." He said.

The entire school didn't know I was...a homosexual. But if you asked I'd answer truthfully, but no one asked, and Fernando didn't have the right to just go and throw it around. It just didn't feel right to tell these three people this right now. Especially JC, dear God, especially not him. I wanted to get to know him better and maybe become friends before I told him. Thanks to Fer-retard, that isn't happening. "Yeah, he's all for the D, he's not Bi, and I don't think he'll turn, so don't even try. Hey that rhymed." Sebastian smiled at his cleverness. "Thanks Fer-retard and SebASStian." I glared at them. Sebastian gave me am apologetic smile but Fernando didn't look like he gave a damn.

"You guys don't have a problem with him being...him though right," Grace asked. "Because if you do, you're going to have to leave." She finished. I haven't even thought about that, what if JC was homophobic? I tried to keep a calm expression on my face when they haven't said anything. "I'm pretty sure we're fine with that." Brendan finally said. Grace smiled widely and I let out a breath of air I didn't know I was holding.

I was only worried for the answer JC was going to give. Though he didn't answer, but he isn't moving so he must be ok with it, right? He was starring at me as if trying to figure out a jigsaw puzzle. "Sorry about Fernando and his behavior. He's getting a spanking later, so it's alright." I said reassuringly. "Keep your sex life to yourself." JC looked disgusted. My heart cracked a bit, he was disgusted by me wasn't he? "I didn't mean it sexually. Fernando is straight. I'm the only gay one here." I told him rudely. I don't care if I was hopelessly in love with him or not, he just insulted me in a way.

I don't know why it bothered me, but it did. "Well, wasn't this a nice lunch?" Grace and gave an awkward cough. The tension was so thick you probably could choke on it. What's with me and choking?
