"slug with a horn"
-
My first "class" today was Transfiguration. In that class the students learn how change part of one thing, or completely change them into something different.
Me and Dimitri had to sit at the back of the room and basically just examine the room to make sure no evil beings were going to jump out of anybodies bag and attack them.
I'm still not sure how I ended up on this trip. Dimitri says it's because it will give me, and the other novices and Moroi picked to come, a sense of the outside world.
Sirius, James, Remus and Lily were in this class. Lily was sitting with Alice and Marlene near the front, while Sirius, James and Remus were sitting just in front of us.
"I'm bored," I whispered to Dimitir.
"Same," Sirius turned round to face me. I didn't even realise he could here me. "This class is pointless."
"It's not pointless," James argued also turning around.
"You only say that because it's the only class your good at," Remus said while still facing Professor McGonagall.
"Yes Mooney," Sirius laughed quietly so the professor wouldn't hear him.
"Shh you four," Dimitri was in his 'serious mood'.
"Oh shut up comrade," I teased. "Your just jealous that you have no friends to talk to."
Dimitri looked at me and I smiled innocently. I looked around the room and saw a girl with short blonde hair sitting over the side of the room, constantly turning to look at Dimitiri.
"She thinks your hot," I say quietly.
"Oh my god Rose," Dimitiri looks over at the girl and shakes his head. I just shrug my shoulders at him and turn back to my "examination" of the room.
A bell sounds throughout the castle and everyone in the Transfiguration room gets up and started leaving. Dimitri and I did the same. We followed Sirius, James and Remus out into the corridor.
"Do we need to do anything now?" Dimitri had my timetable because otherwise I would loose it.
"I'm still wondering why you can't keep your own timetable," Dimitri sighed.
"Because I will loose it," I reply.
"It would turn up," Dimitri shrugged.
"Yea," I started. "But probably somewhere like Australia or something stupid."
"We have to "examine" the potions class room," Dimitri held his fingers up around the word examine.
"We have that to," James turned around and signalled to himself, Remus and Sirius. "Peter has it as well."
The potions professor was Professor Slughorn.
"Right now I'm imagining a slug with a horn," I whispered to Sirius as we walked into the lab. He laughed hard, throwing his head back.
"Ah, Rosemarie and Dimitri," Professor Slughorn came up to us.
"Please, just Rose," I say scowling as I here my full name.
"Of course Rose, of course," Slughorn chuckled. "If you wouldn't mind taking a seat somewhere in the room, preferably near the back so you can see the whole room, that would be brilliant."
Dimitri and I nodded and then went to join the four marauders who were sitting right at the back of the room.
"Welcome to potions class," Professor Slughorn did normal welcome speeches as it was the first day of classes. "Today we will be brewing a Shrinking Solution. Now can anyone tell me what that does? Ah yes Miss Evans."
"The shrinking solution makes the drinker shrink back to a younger form of themselves," Lily recited in what sounded like a 'I just read this from a textbook' voice.
"Well done, five points to Grythindor," The professor smiled widely. "Now off you go, the two people with the best potions get twenty points for their house."
I glanced over at Remus's recipe book and began reading some of the ingredients they had to use.
"Sliced caterpillars. Leech juice," I cringed visibly. "That is disgusting."
Remus just laughed and then stood up to get the ingredients needed.
Halfway through the class I was feeling bored.
"Is this what we have to do every period?"I asked Dimitri.
"Basically," Dimitri nodded while looking at Sirius's potion which was gradually turning a horrible yellow colour. "We need to look out for any signs of danger."
"Maybe you should take a look a bit closer at Sirius's potion because I'm 98% sure that can't be safe," Sirius glared at me.
"Do you want a go? Because I'm happy to let you take over for a few seconds," He held the ladle out to me.
"I'm good thanks. Peter you just dropped the wormwood," He looked very startled at the fact that I spoke to him.
"Right, thanks," He picked it up off the floor then carried on wit his potion which, if that was even possible, was looking even worse than Sirius's.
"Times up everyone," Slughorn called out. "Time for the testing."
He begun walking around the room, testing everyones potions. I guess trying to find the two which were perfect. I looked over at Dimitri and saw that his 'tough guy' act was slipping. He was beginning to look completely bored to.
"Now before you all leaveI'd like to give twenty points to Slytherin house for Mr Snape. And twenty point to," While Slughorn was speaking Sirius quickly cut in and spoke quietly.
"Gyrthindor house for Miss Evans," He muttered.
"Grythindor house for Miss Evans," Slughorn finished having not heard Sirius.
"New it," Sirius said nodding his head as if agreeing with himself.
"Thats it for this lesson class, and no homework for today," Professor Slughorn glanced around at everyone as they started getting out of their chairs. "Your dismissed. Have a good day."
"God I hope every class is not boring as hell like those two were," Dimitri mumbled in my ear as we walked out. I burst out laughing.
