Dan gave me a look that I'm sure broke part of me. It was hard because I'd given part of myself to Ryder and part of my self to Dan throughout the years. But there was something about Ryder something that pulled me towards him and wouldn't let me go.
But Dans loyalty I'd been gone three months and he never let go.
Lyra licked my hand and brought me back to reality. Dans knuckles had gone white as he gripped the steering wheel.
"Dan...." I tried to ask him something but I just couldn't the words wouldn't come out.
"What Mimi?" He was blunt and his voice was flat. He's never used that tone on me.
"I don't understand why you'd want to find me so badly"
"You really have no clue?!? I thought you loved ME!!!! I'd have done anything for you and yet you've gone off with some scumbag who wants your money!!!!" Ouch. He'd shouted at me before but never with such meaning.
"And yet I still love you," His voice was quieter "I'd still do anything for you"
I've never quite felt so awful. The problem was I couldn't respond, I couldn't say it back. That's when I saw a tear slip down his cheek. At that moment he looked so broken, so small.
I'd always seen him as strong, but now I was the one who'd hurt him.
