Talking with Padfoot

"RAVENCLAW!" the sorting hat shouted. I clapped as Callie jumped off the stool and headed to the Ravenclaw table. I was sitting next to Lizzie, but she had not yet forgiven me for the Train Incident, not that it was much of an incident. Dumbledore waved his wand and food appeared on the dishes in front of us. Finally.

I helped myself to mash potato and sausages, covering the entire plate in gravy. As I tucked in, I could hear Lizzie sighing at me. What was her problem?

Dinner wasn't eventful that night, and to be honest everyone was to busy eating to cause any trouble (by everyone I mean my dumb cousin).

-----------------------------------------

Yawning, I strolled down the corridor. It was dark now and no one was about. Me being me had headed to the library to put a book back that I was meant to have returned last year. Or maybe it was the year before... anyway, I wanted to put it back before Madam Pince noticed.

Turning the corner into the Fat Lady's corridor, I saw someone with long black hair sitting outside the portrait hole. My eyes narrowed. Sirius Black.

He heard me approach, and looked up. "Ellis?"

"No, the bloody baron," I said sarcastically. He laughed nervously and stood up, shoving his hands in his pockets. I raised my eyebrows and walked right past him to the painting.

"Pygmy Puff," I said, trying not to look at Sirius, who was smirking at me. Nothing happened. I looked up at the painting and realised that the Fat Lady wasn't there.

"Oh."

Sirius walked forward and leaned against the wall. "She's gone. I believe she is visiting her friend on the sixth floor."

I sighed in exasperation. Of course the Fat Lady wouldn't be here. And it just so happened that Black was stuck outside the common room as well...

"Now I come to think of it," I said, rounding on Sirius. "Why are you out here?"

He blushed slightly and looked down at his shoe. "I-er- had to go toooooooo the toilet!"

I raised my eyebrows, grinning. "That's pathetic. Of all the lies, you come up with, 'I needed the toilet'?"

He grinned as well. "How did you know I was lying?"

I shook my head. "I just do."

He batted his eyes. "Awwwwwwwww does little Ellis fancy me?"

I cringed. "Ew, no."

He looked slightly put out but shrugged it off. I shivered, the cold was getting to me. Only then did I realise that I had left my robe in the library and was only wearing my skirt, shirt, tie, etc.

-Sirius-

I noticed her shiver. She looked around for her robe, but she wasn't wearing one. She must have left it somewhere. Before I knew what I was doing, I was taking off my own robe. I handed it to her, stopping my hand from trembling. The expression on her face was unrecognisable as she took it and slipped it on whispering, "Thanks."

I smiled and ran my hand through my hair. "What time do you reckon the Fat Lady's gonna get back?"
Ellis laughed. "You may be in for a long night Black."

I laughed along, loving the sound of her laugh. I missed it. "That's good," I said out loud and she blushed a bright red scarlet.  Why the hell did you say that out loud Padfoot?

Ellis came closer to me, so close that our noses were almost touching. She reached up into my hair; I held my breath as her fingers brushed against my hair. She pulled her hand back to reveal a leaf in her hand. I could feel fear pass through my face, but quickly readjusted it.

I looked into her eyes; she was looking down. Hesitantly, I tilted her chin up so she was looking into my eyes. I leaned in, my heart umping faster and faster. She mirrored me, closer and closer, our lips were almost touching, I closed my eyes...

CRASH! Ellis jumped back in shock. I opened my eyes to see a suit of armour on the floor at the end of the corridor. I could have sworn I heard footsteps heading this way... Prongs. Oh merlin.

Ellis looked at my, horrified, then swallowed and turned to the Portrait hole, where the Fat Lady now stood. Now she comes.

"Are you quite finished?" she said, looking stern.

"Pygmy Puff," she said with difficultly. The Fat Lady did not look satisfied, but swung open for her.

"Wait Ellis..." But she was gone. I swore under my breath and was about to follow her into the common room but I felt something tug on my collar. I swung around, grabbing the invisible person by the arm and tearing off the cloak.

"Prongs what the heck?!" I yelled. James stood there glaring at me just as angrily.

"We missed you Padfoot," he said smoothly, looking at the portrait hole. "But obviously you had better things to do than help out your friend-"

"Shut up Prongs," I growled. James shot another glare at me.

"Better things like trying to screw my cousin?!" he practically shouted. I growled, shaking my head to get the anger out.

"Better me than Snivellous, hey?" I said sarcastically without thinking. I didn't even see his fist coming. All I knew was that a moment later me and Prongs were fighting a vicious brawl, punching and clawing at each other.

-Ellis-

Oh my Godric. WHAT THE HELL?! I almost kissed Sirius Black, player and my sworn enemy. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME?! I flung myself on my bed in the dorm, not even bothering to get undressed. I sniffed, trying to stop the tears that were threatening to come. A smell of broomstick handle and wet dog brought me to my senses. I was wearing his robe. I tore it off, sobbing and threw it at the bottom of my bed.

Lying on my side, I looked out of the window, to the familiar view. I couldn't see Hagrid's cabin from here, but I could see the Black Lake, reflecting off the full moon. Full moon... that rung a bell...
