You are an archangel, the one who protects Chuck, and he discovers what you are when you accidentally meet Castiel.
(Female Reader)Prophets were always tied to an archangel. You just happened to be an archangel, the middle archangel, and the only girl. You had two older brothers - Michael and Lucifer - and two younger brothers - Raphael and Gabriel and although your brothers didn't agree at all, you were given a prophet to look over. All of your brothers, older and younger, were very protective. Of course they were, you were their sister who, despite being an archangel, couldn't do anything to protect herself. You were innocent, hidden away from humanity and Heaven, your only contact being your brothers, God and Ash, a young man with a bold haircut who stumbled upon you once and decided to keep visiting. You had your own section of Heaven, blocked off from everything else. You were excited when you learned that you were going to be protecting a Prophet of the Lord; all you ever wanted was to be useful like your brothers. So when you were given your mission, instead of staying in Heaven you decided to take a human vessel, despite Michael and Raphael's protests, and posed as Chuck's neighbour.
You became close friends with your charge and, though he thought it was strange you knew nothing of human life, he helped you learn how to be a person. That all changed one day as you sat with Chuck in his living room while he told you about meeting his characters.
"They barged in and demanded I tell them how I knew about their lives. What was I supposed to say? I thought they were nuts! But then they told me their last name. Winchester. You're the only person I told about that and I know you wouldn't tell anyone. They say that I'm a psychic." He sighed. "I don't know, Y/N, am I going crazy?"
You didn't know what to say. You knew exactly what Chuck was but your eldest brother Michael, possibly the most protective, had ordered you not to tell. It had taken a long to time to finally get him to agree to you even going to earth and he was even more adamant that you didn't speak to Chuck. But when you were finally out of Heaven you had gone against that rule, compromising with Michael by promising not to tell Chuck what he was.
"I don't know what to say, Chuck. Just don't let it worry you too much. You know I'm here if you need me." Man, you hated lying to Chuck.Chuck became more nervous as you walked up his porch steps to his front door. You had gone out to get some alcohol with Chuck even though you knew you wouldn't drink anything. It was obvious Chuck knew something you didn't as he opened the door and walked inside with you following. He turned into his living room, and there sat Dean Winchester. You stayed behind the wall, not wanting to be seen. Hardly any angels knew of your existence and you were well aware of the friendship between the Winchesters and your younger brother, Castiel.
"Dean." Chuck said quietly.
"I take it you knew I'd be here." Dean said, most likely glaring at Chuck, though you couldn't actually see the pair around the corner.
"You look terrible." Chuck commented.
"That's 'cause I just got hit by a minivan, Chuck." Dean spoke way too calmly, most likely hiding his anger. You peeked around the wall, seeing Chuck glance back and say,
"Oh."
"That it?" Dean asked, "Every damn thing you write about me comes true, that's all you have is 'oh'?" Dean's voice was getting louder, and you could sense the threat becoming greater. You wouldn't step in until you had to, though. You didn't want Chuck to know the truth.
"Please, don't yell at me." Chuck's voice was a little firmer as he spoke and as you peeked around the corner again you could see that Chuck had put his items down and Dean was standing in front of him, looking down angrily.
"Why do I get the feeling there's something you're not telling us?"
Chuck was backing away, asking what he couldn't be telling them.
You blocked out their words, focusing on calming down and not blowing Dean to smithereens. You snapped when Dean pushed Chuck against the wall and you could feel the ground shaking as you turned into the doorway, your eyes blazing with anger.
"Dean, let him go!" Everything stopped shaking as Dean turned away from Chuck and looked to Castiel. Chuck glanced at you in the doorway as Castiel spoke again. "This man is to be protected."
"Why?"
"He is a Prophet of the Lord." You interrupted and all eyes turned to you, shock showing in every pair. Castiel spoke first.
"How do you know that?" You glanced at Chuck again.
"I'd rather not say in front of the Prophet."
"Y/N, what's going on?" Chuck asked, finally saying something.
"We'll speak later, Chuck. I must talk with Castiel."
"You're Y/N? You exist? Very few believe in the only female archangel." You visibly winced at the title. Castiel had just blurted your secret. Dean stepped in.
"Woah, hold up. You're an archangel? What are you doing on earth?"
"Every Prophet is tethered to an archangel. They protect them. If there was a threat nearby, they would eliminate that threat." Castiel said. Chuck looked betrayed and heartbroken.
"Was that what the shaking was then?" Dean asked, stepping closer to where you still stood in the doorway.
"Yes, I would recommend you refrain from laying a hand on my Prophet again. It won't end well." You glared at Dean. You didn't care if he was your brother's vessel, you would end him in a second if he tried to harm Chuck.
"You're, you're an archangel? Why didn't you tell me? I tell you everything. I told you about Sam and Dean the minute they left the house." Chuck piped up. You turned to him.
"I'm sorry, Chuck. Michael said I was not allowed to tell you. To be honest, he didn't want me to talk to you at all." Chuck still looked hurt.
"But, how come I didn't see you?" He asked.
"Michael is very protective. You may be a Prophet but Heaven can still keep things from you."
Chuck, Dean and Castiel proceeded to have a conversation about Chuck's books and how one day they would be know as the Winchester Gospel in years to come. Chuck had opened up a bottle of alcohol and was soon rushing up the stairs, overwhelmed. You sank down into one of Chuck's uncomfortable chairs and sighed, head in hands.
"What's wrong with you, Feathers?" I looked up as Dean spoke, contemplating whether to answer or not.
"He's never going to forgive me. We've been friends since 2005 and I've been lying to him the entire time."
"That's pretty bad, but he'll get over it." Dean said.
"I'm an archangel. I'm here to protect him. He thought I was just his clueless neighbour who spends most of her time here." Dean was not good at giving advice, you decided. "I'm just his protector, I was never supposed to meet him. I was never supposed to talk to him. I was never supposed to lo-" you stopped abruptly, realising what you had almost admitted. Standing up, you collected your things, walking straight out the door and to your own house. Chuck could decide whether he still wanted you as his friend, but you'd watch from a distance for a while instead.(I feel like there's room for a part 2. Let me know if you want a part 2, thanks!)
