There is only one person in the universe that can leave me frozen in fear, one person that I hate, and he is right in front of me. I look to Wequline; she is trying to tell me that she didn't expect this, trying to communicate without words, and she is not lying. Phelps steps forward and moves right beside me and I don't move as he moves his lips to my ear.

"Come with me or I kill everyone in this room," he whispers, speaking each word slowly and carefully. I feel Terin tense beside me; he heard every word. No one else heard and fortunately, Phelps hasn't noticed that Terin did; I feel Terin reach for his dagger and send him a message DON'T DO ANYTHING, BE CAREFUL AND FOLLOW WEQULINE I tell him and find that he is surprised that telepathy works without his gift. He doesn't know what I do, that his gift isn't gone, simply hiding. Phelps smirks at me and though I hate it, I take my only option- I follow him.

Phelps doesn't restrain me, he knows that I won't attack him; even if I hadn't made a promise to preserve his life, I have to keep my strength for later- though he doesn't know that. He takes me down a million winding hallways, trying to distort my sense of direction, but he doesn't know that I have a map of the entire building burned into my brain. Finally, he stops in front of a door, turning to face me as he pulls it open.

    "Ladies first," he says.

"Well, hurry up then," I respond and he scowls, shoves me into the room and comes in after, shutting the door behind him. The room is blinding; the walls, ceiling and flooring are white and the light on the ceiling of the small room is very large and bright. The only furniture in the room is a small, rectangular table with a chair on each of the long ends.

"Sit down," Phelps says and I sit in the chair facing the door. Phelps sits in the chair in front of me and I take a moment to see what is happening to everyone else. Thank goodness, questioning has not yet begun and Wequ will go first as hoped.

"What are you doing here Sars?" Phelps asks and I remain silent, it's not as if I'm going to tell him. He grabs my wrist, leans over the table and brings his lips to my ear.

"Listen to me very carefully, I will either be nice and you can tell me what is going on or I can torture you until you tell me, either way, I am going to find out," he snarls, his face red with anger. SARS I'M STARTING THE TEST Wequline messages.

"Do you really think I would tell you?" I ask, turning away from Phelps, I stand up and walk towards the door. I feel a tug on my jacket and am flying across the room; I slam into the wall opposite the door and let my head fall forward; my breath leaves me but I was expecting this and slowly and quietly breathe. OKAY, CALM DOWN I message Wequline I HAVE A FEW MOMENTS. Phelps is pacing the room, frustrated but trying to calm himself down; he knows that I don't respond well to violence but he doesn't seem to understand that I won't tell him anything when I don't want to. I find Wequline trying to calm herself before the lie detector test but not succeeding. I slow her heartbeat and calm her breathing as the SKD ask question after question until finally, do you know Sars from before? Are you helping her? They ask and I help as Wequline answers no to all the questions. Phelps starts walking toward me BYE I message Wequline before severing all connections and I stand up before Phelps has the chance to assist me. The moment I stand up Phelps grabs me and forces me to sit in the chair.

"Why are you here? Do you plan to destroy the SKD again? What do you want?" he screams, banging his fist onto the table; of course, I don't answer. He is about to continue his shouting and questions but a knock on the door stops him.

"Come in," he says, breathing heavily and clearly upset, though calming slightly. The door opens and soon enters the same heavy-set man who led us into the headquarters.

    "Yes?" Phelps demands impatiently.

"Wequline has passed her lie detector test, is there anyone else we should suspect?" the man responds, looking uncomfortable as he stands in the doorway and Phelps ponders his question for a moment.

"No," he finally decides and the man turns to leave.

"Don't shut the door," Phelps adds as the man was about to do just that.

"Yes sir," the man answers, taking care not to shut the door before he hurries down the hallway. His footsteps echo down the corridor and Phelps waits until they sound no longer before he grabs my arm and pulls me to my feet.

"Come on," he grumbles as he pulls me toward the open door. He shoves me in front of him before we exit and I manage not to fall as I stumble into the dark, grey hallway.

"Move," Phelps snarls from behind, giving me a little shove as I walk forward with no clue as to where I'm headed. I continue until I feel Phelps' hand on my back and I turn around to see him holding a door open.

"Get in," he commands and I walk into the room; a prison cell.

"Orzar will be pleased to hear of your capture," Phelps says just before he shuts the door, leaving me completely alone. I look around the unlit cell, placing my hands up and down the walls, trying to find a light switch but there isn't any. I need light so I concentrate and light a fire, holding it in the palm of my right hand. The walls are grey and there are no exits except the one door with two guards waiting outside. I extinguish the light and sit beside the door, closing my eyes. I concentrate and find Wequline, her mind is open and welcoming and I send a message WHAT IS GOING ON? I ask; she is sitting on the couch. THEY'VE TAKEN TERIN IN FOR QUESTIONING, HE'S THE LAST ONE AND THE SKD HAVE GIVEN ME A LIST OF THINGS THEY WANT DONE. TERIN WILL BE GOING WITH US AND ONCE HE'S DONE WE'LL LEAVE Wequline messages back. GOOD I respond MESSAGE ME ONCE YOU'VE LEFT AND WAIT FOR ME; I DON'T WANT TO START UNTIL YOU'RE GONE I tell her. OKAY she responds and I sever the connection; I close my eyes and wait for the next message. It comes many minutes later and I feel my mind snap back; WE'VE JUST LEFT AND ARE ON OUR WAY TO THE TRUCK Wequline tells me. THANK YOU I answer; I sever all links, start a new one, with the guards outside my door, and flinch as I hear their bodies hit the floor; they're not dead but hopefully no one heard the noise. I stand up, take the metal rod from my pocket, and jab it into the lock – the only thing that can override a Kuvek-proof lock; I smile seconds later as it swings open.
