I lay Terin in his bed, unlace his boots and place them beside his dresser before pulling the covers over top of him. I sit beside him on the bed and watch as he sleeps; he looks like a child and I watch him sleep peacefully for several hours before he opens his eyes.
"What's going on?" He asks.
"Wequline is driving away, but I'm not sure where she plans to go, I didn't ask her before I brought you up here," I answer and Terin looks at me with a strange look on his face.
"What?" I ask.
"You brought me up?" He asks, "How?"
"I carried you," I say, and he looks at me again with that strange expression, but doesn't say anything for a while, he just stares at the ceiling and I begin to pull the covers down and lift off his T-shirt.
"What are you doing?" Terin asks as I look at the injuries just on his chest.
"Looking at your injuries," I respond, "turn over," I tell him and Terin obeys. There are even more injuries on his back; everything from burn marks to whip lashes cover his body. I place my hands on Terin's back and he gasps as I close my eyes and use my remaining strength to find his Kuvek gift and open his mind to the gift. I use the remainder of my strength to heal the wounds on his back and fall down, exhausted; Terin turns over and picks me up. I try to move but all my strength was used to heal him and give his Kuvek gift back that I don't have the strength to move. He lays me to the side of the bed and begins to put his shirt back on just as I fall asleep.
I wake up to Terin holding a chunk of earth and turning it to metal and then back again to earth.
"What time is it?" I ask, sitting up.
"It's only been a few hours, it's 8 o'clock at night," Terin responds, turning his attention away from the earth and looking at me with that strange expression on his face.
"Thank you," Terin says.
"You're welcome," I respond, "Where did you get the earth?" I ask.
"A few hours ago, Wequ and Ferixc switched driving responsibilities; I quickly went outside and grabbed a handful of earth," Terin answers and we sit in silence for a moment before Terin speaks.
"You still shouldn't have done that," he says and I look at him, confused.
"What?" I ask and he sighs.
"You shouldn't waste your strength, I don't want you to be comatose for two months again," Terin explains and I sigh.
"I don't know what happened, I've been out before, after bringing someone back, but never more than a few days," I say and think of all the time I lost; I should have been able to help them, but instead, I was out for two months.
"I'm sorry, if I had been awake, you wouldn't have been captured," I apologize, feeling guilty, but Terin shakes his head. "It's not your fault, Sarea, you brought Dujuik back to life, thanks to you, we are all alive and are safe," Terin says, trying to reassure me. However, it doesn't work; they still suffered a lot and I am reminded of the many times the Ferse had captured me when I was younger.
"What did the Ferse do to the little boys?" I ask quietly, dreading the answer; Terin looks at me with that strange expression on his face again before answering.
"Don't worry," he says, "the Ferse didn't torture the little boys like they did us, they just asked them questions," he answers and I am relieved that the Ferse didn't hurt the boys, but I shouldn't have put everyone else in danger by allowing Wequ to tell them so much about me.
"It's not your fault Sars," Terin says, and then, as if to change the subject, "while you were asleep, a radio message was sent to everyone, the Ferse have surrendered. Everyone that was forced to fight for them no longer has to do so and the Ferse that fought the Kuvek of their own free will are now being arrested and will have a trial whenever the next leader is appointed, the radio message said for everyone to meet in the capitol, we have a lot to do," Terin says, and I feel relief flood through me, I never have to worry about them again; I look at Terin and notice that he looks a little sad.
"What are you going to do, now that Kuvek aren't going to be killed for who they are?" I ask Terin and he smiles, just slightly.
"I'm going to build a boat and explore the other lands," he says.
"When?" I ask, surprised at the idea of missing him.
"As soon as I can get to water," Terin answers, and an idea enters my mind and I almost don't ask but decide to anyway.
"Can I come with you?" I ask and Terin looks at me once again with that strange expression on his face and then smiles.
"Sure," he responds.
