I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock beeping and James jumping on my bed saying "Mommy, it's my birthday!" I smiled and told him to go wake up his sister. Paige got up, put on her princess dress, and I helped them get their coats on. It was the beginning on January, January 3rd to be exact, so it was very chilly outside. The twins climbed into the car and we drove to the pottery place I worked at. It was a Saturday and normally I was only there on weekdays when the twins were at school. Once we arrived, my co worker Alyssa was hanging up balloons and setting the table. The twins loved making pottery at the studio, and it saved me a little bit of money since I got a discount. I ran to the fridge to see the ice cream cake I had ordered. The twins loved ice cream cake, and so did I. On the cake it said Happy Birthday Paige and James! And it had a princess crown and dinosaur on it. Once all the kids arrived, they got to work painting a piece of pottery. Most of the parents there were in their 30's, but there was one girl there that looked to be about my age, patting her daughters back. "Hey, I'm Saira!" I said to her. "I'm Melanie. My daughters Hannah, thanks for inviting her." She replied. "Do you want to come over to my house after the party?" I asked her. "Sure!" Melanie replied. It would be nice to hang around a mom that was my age for once. The twins had an awesome time at their party and at the end one of my co workers handed me my paycheck for that month. After the party we drove home and the twins went upstairs to play. About an hour after that, Melanie arrived with Hannah. Hannah, Paige and James went upstairs to play and me and Melanie talked. "So, I'm guessing you were a teen mom too?" I asked Melanie. "Yep, I got pregnant at 15." She replied. "I got pregnant at 16 and had the twins." I replied. "So are you in touch with you're kids father?" Melanie asked me. "Nope, I never even told him he was a father." I replied to her. "What? Why?" She asked. "Well, I broke up with him two months before I found out I was pregnant, and it was not only hard to see his face, but I was so angry at him and never wanted to see him again. I figured that if I didn't tell him he was going to be a dad, then I wouldn't have to talk to him." I told her. "So are you in touch with Hannah's dad?" I asked Melanie. "Well, we broke up after he found out I was pregnant. He said he didn't want a child. But now Hannah has asked about her dad and where he is, and I don't know what to tell her. I don't even know where he lives, and I feel bad. I mean, I never wanted a child so young and that is part of the reason why. I feel bad for her, I mean, she has to have a father figure in her life." She replied. I felt bad then for my twins, mainly because one day they were bound to ask about their father, and then I would have to tell them I had them at 16. We talked about other things and then I ordered pizza. Melanie and Hannah left after dinner and then I put the twins in bed. They were my life, my whole life.
