Valentine's Day Special: Rin x Reader

Rin x Reader: True Love

"It's over (Name). We're done."
Those words were knives piercing your fragile heart. You boyfriend, or should I say now ex-boyfriend, has started yelling at you over something stupid last night. You couldn't even remember what you had started fighting about. All you could recall was the fight being in incredibly loud, and then those five words.
And it was the day before Valentine's Day.
You woke up on February 14th, feeling as if you hadn't slept at all. Your eyes and throat burned from all the emotions you had let out last night, and a fog encircled your brain, preventing it from functioning properly.
Yet, you had to attend school, and trudged your fatigued body out of bed.

Once you arrived at Iwatobi High, the grounds were alive with happy chatter and laughter, the complete opposite of what you were feeling.
Several girls had made homemade chocolates, racing around to give them go several boys, who, flustered yet happy, thanked them with a kiss or hug.
Your heart felt empty. Gazing around at all the couples, you felt your eyes begin to sting and quickly shut them, running to your classroom just as the bell rang.
Unfortunately, classes whizzed by quickly, and soon, it was lunch time.
You sat on the school roof, not wanting to interact with anyone, and simply hugged your knees to your chest, breathing softly into them.
"(Name)? Are you alright?"
Lifting your head up, you saw your best friend, Faith, gazing worriedly at you. (Yes I'm your best friend deal with it :P)
You didn't reply, shifting your eyes away from her, hoping she would get the message and leave.
The blonde female only came closer, sitting next to you and placing her hand on your shoulder.
"What happened?" she inquired softly. "Was it (Ex-Boyfriend's Name)?"
Your stomach tightened painfully as you began crying into your knees, and Faith rubbed your back soothingly.
But suddenly, a snooty laughter interrupted your sobbing.
Wiping your tears, you glanced over the roof, noticing your ex-boyfriend with his arm wrapped around (Random Girl's Name)'s shoulders.
"So? What did you do about (Name)?" you overhead the girl asked, twirling a strand of her (least favorite color) hair flirtatiously.
"Oh, I pretended to get upset over some random thing. I yelled at her for a while until I told her I wanted to break up with her," he laughed. "She got really upset. I'm happy I don't have to deal with a girlfriend like her today. It's not like I ever loved her anyway."
Hearing his words, you swore your heart skipped a beat.
"Wait! (Name)!" Faith called out, but you had already dashed off the roof, not caring about skipping school, and ran to the only place you felt safe.
Faith, seeing you so upset, quickly pulled out her phone, texting Rin your dilemma. He would be the one to save you.

You sniffled, tears dripping down onto your skirt. You couldn't cry anymore.
The sun was setting over the horizon, streaking the sky a mixture of hot scarlet, orange, and yellow. The park bench you sat on was completely secluded from the happy couples walking down the streets.
You wanted to forget this day. Forget him. Forget your love.
But suddenly, your frame was enveloped in a strong pair of arms.
You tensed under the person's touch, but when you suddenly picked up the strong scent of chlorine, you leaned into the swimmer's chest, taking deep breaths. The scent of the chemical was almost calming to you before the male pulled away.
"Rin," you mumbled quietly.
"I heard about (Ex-Boyfriend's Name)," he said almost awkwardly, avoiding your gaze.
"I-It's alright," you lied, looking down at your shoes.
"No its not."
Rin grabbed your chin, turning your head to face him.
As you gazed into his crimson orbs, his irises read a different emotion that you've never seen before.
You have known Rin for over two years. You knew every single detail about his life and personality, and you couldn't deny that you have developed an attraction to him. Under all of that tough appearance, he was a naturally kind, caring individual.
"(Name), (Ex-Boyfriend's Name) never deserved you if he treated you like a piece of trash he could throw away. You are more important to me more than you'll ever know. You are beautiful, smart, and perfect just the way you are. Don't be upset. If he can't accept you for who you are, he doesn't deserved to be loved."
Frozen in shock from his speech, the burgundy-haired male then pulled out a single rose from behind his back, along with a heart shaped box, tied neatly with a red ribbon.
"(Name), I can't promise you a perfect Valentine's day today. But I promise you from now on, and in the future, you will feel loved and accepted for who you are. I love you (Name). Will you be my Valentine?"

...My brain is fried right now. Maybe because I haven't eaten since twelve in the afternoon. I can't right now.

But anyway, I see Rin is very popular character! I mean who wouldn't love him? He's just so sweet and gentle...

I was going to make this a fluffy, lovey-dovey one shot, but then this came to mind, and I had to write it. I think Valentine's Day should be a day where couples share their deep feelings of love for each other, like Rin did here. You guys are all beautiful and loved, don't ever forget that <3
