I sat in atnicipation, every fiber of my body was trembling as I let out sigh after sigh hoping to god Adam wouldnt be thrown in jail. Peyton sat beside me, arguing with Blake in attempt to bestow the fault upon him.
"Guys! Stop! They're going to call us in there any second now. It doesnt matter who or what got us here. What matters is that Adam gets out with a clean record." I snapped, my anxiety becoming almost unbearable. Ive only know Adam for a month at the most but he's truly grown on me. Im genuinely scared that such a sweet guy like him is on the verge of being imprisoned in a not even remotely sweet place.
"I cant believe your dad is making you go to school after this trial. How could he be so-"
"Peyton please don't. Its fine really. If the worst thing that comes out of this day is me having to go to school then im all for it." I stated, quickly interrupting her. She rolled her eyes but nodded agreeingly. I saw Adam walking down the hall alongside of his defense attorney who had been whispering excessively in his ear as if spies were surrounding every inch of the courthouse. Peyton and I quickly got up and began making our way towards Adam only to be stopped by his attorney.
'Bad idea. Anyone sees you talking to him before the trial and they will assumme you're going over what needs to be said, which evidently will not do wonders for his case. If you will, proceed to the courtroom, the judge is waiting. Be seated in the first row the three of you are the only witnesses Adam has; therefore, you must tell the truth as convincingly and honestly as possible. If you dare tell a lie you will have jeopardized not only his case but his freedom as well." She elaborated directing us to the courtroom.
"Oh and I should warn you, just so theres no room for surprise. Due to the fact that none of you actually witnessed the assult your claims may not do much." She added, my stomatch churned and I looked over at Adam who's face was filled with worry. I wanted nothing more than to embrace him and tell him everything would be fine but i couldnt. Not just because of the assumptions that would surface
but because i wasnt sure everything would be okay."Summer. We need to go." Blake instructed pulling my arm in the direction of the courtroom. The moment we entered I could feel numerous gazes lingering on us and in that moment, I myself felt as if i was a criminal. The three of us sat in the front row and watched as Adam sat down with his defense attorney, anxiously glancing at us as if we were harshly judging him for being in this current position. He mouthed something to us but i couldnt quite make it out. His light brown hair was strewn every which way due to him constantly running his hands through his hair. As the judge emerged and began to take his place in the courtroom Adam quickly attempted to clean himself up a bit before the judge called the trial to order. I noticed Adam flinch as judge Mariner banged the gavel. My heart broke at the sight of it. After pledging to the oath Adam was called to the stand and Daniel Alvarez, the *victims* attorney made his way over to the stand to question Adam.
"Mr. Montgomery, please begin by informing the jury of the incidents pertaining to that night." Judge Mariner instructed, adjusting his glasses properly and turning towards Adam ever so slightly.

"I was walking to my car then all of a sudden this guy just pops out of nowhere and shoves me to the ground. I just remember him shouting, he was so angry and I was just confused because id never met him before, not one single time and here he was pounding the pavement next to me. I was sure my face would be next. But then he just ran off. For a second I remember thinking to myself he looked more scared than i did. But then the pain surfaced and I couldnt get up. So i stopped feeling bad for him. I had fell on some shards of glass and cut myself pretty bad. I had to get stiches." Mr. Richards stated, his voice quivering enough for even the judge to notice."And you're certain you did nothing to encourage Mr. Montgomerys actions?" Adam's defense attorney inquired with a stern look on her face. Mr. Richards feverishly shook his head, he was clearly unstable and did not wish to utter another word so he was ushered off the standby an officer. He gazed all around the room freezing when his gaze met Adams. The officer however pulled him back into reality and sat him down.
