My New Family

(22) Ryder's Move

A normal day of school means a normal lunch time, right? Well, you are right. I was having lunch with Maia, while Reese was having lunch with Ryder and his friends, meaning Fabian was over there as well.

I sighed while I played with the fork in my salad. "Aren't you hungry?" She asked and that was also what woke me up from my thoughts. "I don't know.." I said. "How can you not know if you are hungry or not? Is my bestie finally in love?" She asked and I rolled my eyes, not taking them of that table.

"What do you think about Ryder's new girlfriend? Have you met her yet? I think she looks fake. Blonde long hair with red lips? I mean come on!! This is school and not a fashion show!!" She started. "You are just jealous because you wouldn't look good with blonde hair and that honey blonde is the bright color you will ever wear on your head" I tried to defend Reese without making it too obvious.

"And no,  I haven't met her yet" I added to answer her question.

Then Thomas joined us "Who's the chick with Ryder?" He asked and sat down beside me and took my sandwich (which didn't had meat in it, so it was a surprise he actually started eating my food!!) "Why are you asking me?! All I know is that her name is Reese something from London, England. We have one class together" I told them. Of course I knew way more about her,  but I'm not allowed to know that.

"I see you later Olivia" Thomas said and left. "Talking about leaving, I was supposed to be at Mr. Peterson's office 10 minutes ago" She said and hurried off as well. Now I kinda wish Thommy would  be back.

But then something even weirder happened. Ryder suddenly got up and come over to me. "What happened to no being friends in school?" I asked and looked up smirking at him. "Just come before I change my mind" He said in his typical jerk Ryder voice. I got up and took my salad and he lead me to his table and made me sit down between him and Fabian.

"Guys, that's Olivia. We go way back" He said and he thinks he was lying. Truth is, he was telling the truth, for once. "Hey guys" I said a little shy. "Hey, I'm Fabian" He said flirty and winked at me. "Olivia" I said, even though he knew my name. "Don't flirt with her Fabs, she's off limit!!" Ryder said a little mad. If he would know. "Hey, I'm Reese. We have that one class together, right?" She asked and I nod.

"I got a great idea! Reese doesn't have any girl friends here, so how about you two become friends. Maybe ma gal can do something with.... you" Ryder said and made gestures with his hands in front of my face.

"Wow... Since when so nice?" I asked and he ignored my question and looked at Reese "What do you say?" He asked and she smiled "I'd love to" She said and I smiled too.

AFTERNOON

Well, I was at Reese' and it was weird we are already that far in our plan. I'm now officially allowed to be friends with my second best friend friend.

"Dad? You remember Olivia from summer camp?" She asked and he gave me that typical 'I'm happy for my daughter' smile. "Of course I remember her. How are you doing? You became so tall and beautiful" He said and I almost blushed. "Thanks Mr. Ortega. I'm doing great, what about you?" I asked back. "I'm doing great and I'm glad to see you again. I was wondering when that will be" He said and I awkward giggled.

"We'll be in my room" Reese said and pulled me upstairs and into her room.

I was kinda wowed by her room. It wasn't like I imagined it would be. The walls were painted white and she had photos hanging on one wall. I even saw some from summer camp of the two of us, which made me smile. Then there was a huge UK flag hanging above her bed and a photo of the London Skyline in black and white. Not one too girly thing.

"What?" She asked, sitting down on her bed. "This is actually a room I would like to live in" I said and looked at her. "What did you think room would look like? Pink and unicorns?" She asked. "Well, from the clothes you used to wear" I said and sat down beside her. "Oh gosh... Don't remind me... I was a kid back then. A kid with a horrible taste" She said and laid back and covered her face with her hands.

"What do you wanna do?" I asked her and she sat back up. "How about that make over Ryder's suggested?" She said. "Are you trying to tell me something?" I asked, playing offended. "Because you need one" She said and pulled me into her bathroom.

She made me sit down on the toilet and started doing my make up. "Reese..." I said and she continued. "Believe me, you are going to look awesome! Wait until we dye your hair" She said and my eyes widen "WHAT!?" I asked shocked. "Trust me! It will look great amazing" She said. "You sure?" I asked and she nod.

"Okay do it! I can take it!" I said and closed my eyes.

Hours later I was looking into the mirror above her bathroom sink and I actually liked what Reese has done to my hair.

"Wow... This looks amazing Reese. I seriously never thought that it could look that great!" I said and she smiled at me. "Now we can go and check my closet for clothes for you" She said and hurried off, pulling me with her. "Um... That's a little bit much!! You are too girly for me!" I said and she pushed me down on her bed.

What is it with my besties that want to change my appearance?

"I swear you, I will not wear anything pink and I will not find something in your closet!! I said and crossed my arms. "Fine, then we will go shopping" She said and I looked at her "NO!" I almost yelled. "You will survive it! I can't believe Maia never took you shopping" She said. "She tried, then she gave up" I explained.

Then Reese took her phone and almost let it fall "It's 10:30" She said and my eyes widen "WHAT?! Can you drive me home?" I asked and she nod and we hurried outside. Only 15 minutes later we were at my place, I said bye and hurried inside the house. It was already dark and quiet, I quickly got upstairs and went into my room. I turned on the light and started looking for new pj's.

"Hey, you're home late" Ryder said and I turned around to him. He looked weird at me "What happened to you?" He asked. "Reese thought it would be a good idea to make it brighter" I explained and sat down on my bed. He sat down beside me "Looks great on you" He said and once again our faces were close. "Reese seems nice" I said and got up and walked a few steps away from him. "Yeah, I think I might actually like her. She's different than the other girls I dated" He said.

"Why?" I asked and turned back around to him. "She's smart. I never had a smart girlfriend, well except my first one" He said.

"Why you keep mentioning her?" I asked. Was I jealous? Of myself!?

"I guess I never got over her. You know, she was special and then it was over and I moved away" He said.
