I sat in my room waiting for mommy to come home. Exactly at six-o'clock is the time that she always comes unless she tells me otherwise. I couldn't wait to see her. I had some good news about school. The teachers have been telling me that I'm one of the smartest kids in my grade and that they are thinking about skipping me up a grade. I don't know how I feel about that though. I've grown to like a girl in my class named Aaliyah. She's very smart like me too and her parents are beyond rich! I don't even understand why she even goes to public school. Never really asked her. One thing I like about her is that she never brags or show-offs about her money. She wasn't any typical rich kid like the ones I saw on tv. How I found out or better yet how I confirmed that she was rich was when she came to school with a diamond bracelet and I asked her where she got it from. She replied with the store name then I asked her how much it cost and she said $1200. Who in the world spends $1200 on a bracelet! I knew she was rich right then and there. Sometimes I wish we were rich and can afford nice things like that. Maybe mommy will get a better job soon. I was in the middle of my thoughts when I was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the front door opening.
I got excited and ran down the stairs not even worrying about the time.
"Hi mommy". I said as I embraced her with a hug.
"Hi sweetheart". She said back with almost a forced smile. I could tell.
"what's wrong?". I asked concerned.
"Nothing baby. Did you finish or even start your homework? I'm about to start cooking dinner. Mommy replied back.
"Yes, mommy I finished. Can I help you cook?". I said to her hoping she would say yes.
"Go and wash your hands baby" she told me.
"Okay". I ran upstairs and began washing my hands. After I finished I rushed back down stairs and wiped my hands on a paper towel. "I'm ready mommy" I assured her.
"Okay honey, just wait a second mommy has to make a call real quick".
I nodded my head and waited at the table. I looked down at the table just sitting and waiting. I heard the sound of the front door opening and immediately looked. It was Mommy's boyfriend.
"Hey baby". He said to mommy. Mommy kissed him and brushed him off a little because she was on the phone. He grabbed her butt and walked towards the kitchen. When he came almost near me I felt so uncomfortable. I don't know why, but I just wanted mommy to come back so I can help her make dinner.
"Hey there baby girl". Mommy's boyfriend said to me with a little smirk on his face.
"Hi". I replied back.
"Oh so that's how you treating me after I done gave you what you wanted? That's not nice Miss.Raven". His voice sounded so low yet it had a sweet tone to it.
"I said thank you for the gifts". I said back to him.
"Yeah yeah well that's not enough for me". He went into the refrigerator and poured him something to drink. "Matter a fact I have a little something for you later on tonight baby girl". I sat there thinking here we go again with this. I don't like this one bit.
"It should be fun. I have someone I want you too meet".
"Meet who?" I said with almost an attitude.
"Someone that's very important and that's all you need to know for now." He took a sip from the cup. Then he pulled something out of his pocket. "Ay! baby come in here!" He yelled from the kitchen.
"Hold on! I'm still on the phone". Mommy yelled at him back.
"If you don't come now then don't come later" he told mommy with almost an angry tone.
