Josh's POV
I can't marry Maya. Why would I marry Maya. Doesn't Cory see that every time her and I are in the same room we fight? There was a time when I might have been okay with this, nearly three years ago. Three years ago, she was cool. But then it happened. Her and I were never the same after that. Fighting was commonplace between us following that event. I couldn't stand to look at her anymore, much less marry her!
"This is cruel and unusual punishment!" I shouted as my insane brother shoved to two of us into a room and locked us in there.
"I like this even less than you do," I said after we stood in silence for a few minutes. It turned out the room we were shoved into was a small walk in hallway closet, where we had nothing to do besides angrily stare at opposite walls.
"I doubt it," she said back.
"What even made him think this was a good idea anyway," I asked.
"How should I know?" She fired back.
"You don't need to get so nasty. We're both stuck either way," I pointed out.
"This gives me all the more reason to hate you," she said.
"Gives you all the more reason to hate me? If anything, I have more reason to hate you!" I raised my voice a bit.
"Because of you I am being torn apart from my love, Farkle!" She raised her voice, too.
"I'm not talking about right now. Im talking about two years ago," I raised my voice louder still.
"You know damn well what happened was all your fault!" She increased her volume with each word.
"Really? It's my fault? You made the stupid decision. You made the choice. And then when I came to save your ass, you blocked me out!" I yelled.
"I didn't need you to save me, Josh!" She shouted back.
"You could have died!" I shouted back.
"Can you just shut up!" She yelled. I didn't answer. We sat in silence for several more minutes. I hoped Cory would come to let us out soon. I was about to get up and try to force the door open when she spoke.
"Do you think he's gonna make us have kids?" She whispered so quietly I almost didn't hear it. I could hear the fear in her voice. I hadn't heard her talk like that since she called me that day. It was the closet to a nice thing she had said to me in two years.
"I don't know," I whispered back.
"I want to get out of here. You're using up all the oxygen," she snapped, returning to herself.
"Do you have a bobby pin?" I asked her.
"Yeah," she said.
"Can I have it?" I asked.
"And let you have all the glory? No, move over. I'm gonna pick that lock faster than you ever could." She said.
"In your dreams," I laughed at her. She struggled, but this clearly wasn't her first time getting locked in the Matthews closet.
"Wait," she said stopping midway.
"What? I want to get out of here," I told her.
"Listen to what they're saying," she said pressing her ear to the door. I did the same.
"I want them to get along," I heard my brother say.
"So this is your plan for that?" I heard Topanga ask.
"Mr. Matthews, this is crazy, even for you." I heard feeny add.
"I dunno, I see his point," Shawn said.
"Damn it Shawn," Maya mumbled.
"I've heard enough, can you just finish that lock?" I said to her.
"Fine, whatever," Maya sighed. She fiddled for another moment, but then she kicked the door open. The people on the other side of the door gasped.
"Did you really think you could lock up Maya Hart?" She asked, standing proud.
"What were you two yelling about in there?" Feeny asked.
"Don't worry about it. Cor, why are you doing this to us?" I asked him.
"Because I said so. I want Maya in our family, so you are going to marry her," he told me like it was obvious.
"Can't I marry Auggie? Or even Eric?" She begged.
"No, you get Josh." Cory said. She was acting like she signed up for a five star water park but received a kiddie pool in a small backyard instead.
"Bay window," Riley said grabbing Maya, Farkle, and Lucas.
