Chapter 3: Telling

The next morning Rick and Kate woke up to the sound of movement in the kitchen. They walked out of the room and found Martha and Alexis making breakfast. "Good Morning, darlings." "Morning Dad,Kate." "Good Morning."
When breakfast was done they all sat at the table and ate, then the sun glistened and reflected off of Kate's ring. "OMG, Dad!You finally asked!?" "Yes I did, Pumpkin!" "Congrats!" "Oh congratulations Richard, Katherine!" Alexis and Martha then hugged them. "Thank you, we are going to have everyone over for dinner to tell them the news." "We will be there!" After that they all sat down and watched 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'.
After the movie was over Rick and Kate noticed that it was 1:30 and everyone was going to be at the loft by 6:00. "Babe, you wanna start making dinner, dessert, and getting everything ready?" Kate asked. "Sure."
For dinner they made Chicken, Pancite, Rice, and Corn, a dish Kate's mother had made so often before she was killed. For dessert the couple went to a bakery and bought Cronuts.
After everything was ready Kate took a shower, curled her hair, did her make-up, and slipped on a nice blue dress, then Rick got ready. By the time everyone was ready and all the food was prepared it was 5:30.
The first to arrive were Ryan, Jenny, 3 year-old Sarah Grace.Then Esposito and Lanie who were back together. Captain Gates and her husband, and finally Jim.
When everyone sat down at the table Rick got straight to the point: "We have some news to share!" He then looked at Kate, "Yes we do," Kate then showed her left hand, "We are engaged!" Lanie and Jenny squealed and ran over to Kate to hug her, Esposito and Ryan went to congratulate Rick, then Jim brought Sarah-Grace over and gave his congratulations to Rick and Kate. "So when are you getting married?" Lanie asked, "Lanie! We don't know we just got engaged yesterday!" "Then, I guess I shouldn't ask about babies!" "Lanie!" Kate scolded her friend, "Okay, okay. I'm sorry." She said smiling. "Congratulations detective, Mr.Castle." Gates said from her seat. "Thank you, sir."
When everyone left after dessert it was 9:00. Rick and Kate said their 'goodnights' and went to their room where they fell asleep.
