Kole woke up with a splitting headache. It felt like someone whopped him over the head with a sledgehammer. He sat up, still feeling groggy. His vision was still a little blurry, but he could tell that he was in a prison cell.
Sprawled out on the floor next to him was the girl who he had met in the woods, Olympia. He was able to take a closer look at his cellmate. She had blonde hair with red highlights. She wore black clothing and ripped jeans. Hanging off her side was a empty sheath. She looked like a stereotypical rebellious teen.
His thoughts were distracted when the cell door swung open. One of my body guards, Dmitri, stepped in.
"Well, it seems that our great prince has awoken," Dmitri smirked, " like the change of scenery. Your parents are sick and tired of you running away, Master Kole, so they gave me permission to throw you in here to teach you a lesson."
"What lesson do i need to learn?" Kole asked angrily.
"Well there is respect for adults, I mean you did shoot my partner, well, you had your little girly friend over there shoot him. Also, you keep running away from home, which just won't do, so there are a few lessons that you will be learning," Dmitri seemed to be enjoying every second of this.
"You do realize, as soon as you let me out of here, I will run, and next time you won't catch me," Kole snapped back.
"Then we will never let you leave, it is that simple. Either way, your parents are down with this run away bull crap, so you are stuck with this fate, whether you like it or not," Dmitri laughed at Kole's surprised expression.
Dmitri turned and walked out, slamming the door behind him. That seemed to snap Olympia back to consciousness. She looked up at him with startling gray eyes, then searched the prison cell.
"Where are we?" She asked in a calm voice.
Kole was almost reluctant to answer, truth be told, he had felt much better when he had faced her in the dark with his sword. At least then he could have defended him self, or ran if it was necessary, but now he was stuck.
"Well," she said expectedly, "look, your the reason why I am in this mess, so I think that I deserve an answer."
"An underground prison cell," he said warily.
Olympia stood up, then brushed herself off. She looked around, then came and sat down on the bed next to him. She seemed to be searching for something.
"This sucks," Olympia muttered under her breath.
"Well we are kinda stuck in a prison cell," Kole responded.
She looked back at him, and he flinched, "Not that, though this does stink. The cell doesn't have a place for food to come in. I assume that they plan to feed us, but there is no food slot in the door. That means that they will have to open the door to give us food. Also, thanks to poor design, they will have other open the door all of the way, that gives us an advantage."
Kole laughed, "I have no idea how you figured that out, but it isn't really helpful. I bet the person who brings in the food will be Dmitri, the big dude who brought us here, and if so, we don't stand a chance against them."
She sighed, then laid down and fell back asleep. Man, girls are weird, he thought before lying down on the floor and falling back asleep. They could start planning their escape tomorrow.
Kole woke up to find Olympia two inches from his face, "Auggggggggggg," he screamed, then crawled away from her.
"Sorry 'bout that, but I thought that you were dead, so I was making sure that you were breathing still," Olympia said, while getting up from her squatting position.
"Not dead, thank you very much," Kole stood up and stretched.
Olympia offered a stale piece of bread and some water. Kole took it without saying anything, and they both ate in silence.
When they both finished, Kole decided to get to know the girl across from him, "So, what is your story?"
Olympia looked over at him, then at the ground, " Why do you even care?"
Kole scooted away from her, "No reason, I was just making friendly conversation."
Olympia was still staring at the ground when she answered, "You first."
"Alright, if that is what it will take to get you to talk," Kole responded, "I ran away from home with my younger brother. Those people who caught us, they work for my parents."
"My turn, I guess it's my turn," Olympia sighed, "I was in the Lost City when it exploded two years ago. My family was killed, in fact, the only other person that I know survived is my best friend, Jesse. She's all that I have left, her and her stupid horse. "
They sat in silence for a moment, listening to sound of the house settle. Then they heard the sound of two people coming down the hall. They fumbled with the door for five minutes before it swung open.
