1am rolled around fast. The kids were already fast asleep, and they were tired themselves. "You wanna head to bed?" Avery suggested.

"In a bit but first Dean and I have something we need to talk to you about." Sam stated with an edge of difficulty.

"What's up?"

"First off, we both really appreciate what you said to Lucy about us. We could hear you. You described us both as amazing and although we know you were sincere, it means a lot to know you think we are amazing people." Sam stated.

"Of course. You're both awesome."

"Now my turn. Not that she's going to call you all the time, but you can't keep talking to Lucy. I know she called you, not the other way around, but you shouldn't talk to her anymore." Dean told her.

"Why not?" Avery asked, progressively getting upset.

"If anyone or anything hears her talk to you and any of our names are mentioned, or if she talks to anyone about what you say, she's in major danger. Plus, I've heard enough stories of things happening to know that keeping in contact with friends just gets in the way and gets you killed or almost killed. Once you're in the hunting life, that's all there is and all the other people have to go in a sense." Dean explained. She couldn't control the tears that welled in her eyes. It's not like she had talked to Lucy since she left, but now that Lucy called her, she felt she needed to. She held onto Sam as she cried.

"Way to go, Dean." Sam stated harshly as he rubbed her shoulder.

"Avery, I wasn't trying to be mean. I was just telling you honestly how it is. I know you want to call her and talk to her more since it's been so long, but it's dangerous for everyone. I'm not gonna stop you from talking to her. Just keep in mind what I'm saying."

"Then why did you guys keep me and Jennifer around for a while if you knew it could hurt any of us?" She asked.

"I don't expect you to get how you and Jen were different than Lucy, but sometimes love gives us enough reason to risk it. To be honest, at first I wasn't thrilled with Sam wanting to bring you with us, but the second I saw how much he loved and cared for you, I took the risk you brought and dealt with it. And I wasn't sure about being with Jen out of fear of the same thing, but I loved her so I dealt with the risk. With Lucy, she's states away and we can't protect her, and we can't guarantee nothing will find us because of her." Avery cried slightly harder and it put Dean in an awkward position. "Avery, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just trying to protect you and Lucy."

"I know, Dean. It's ok." She felt sort of attacked but knew he wasn't trying to be mean. They headed to bed.
