KEVIN
My eyes slowly opened to the sound of voices. I couldn't hear much in my semi-drunken state but I could make out some words.
"No...busy...sorry...patients...number.." I heard a familiar female voice say. Is that my aunt Sarah? Where am I and why am I in a car? My head is pounding.
"Ok...yeah...I get it...figure...bye." Without doubt that was Aaron. I'd know his voice anywhere.
I suddenly heard a loud noise which I presumed was a door being shut, but my head hurt too much to raise and see for myself. I heard the engine start and my eyes began to close again. Why did I agree to have some of Aaron's dads whiskey? Never again.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Once again my now puffy eyes opened and I found myself wondering where I was. My headache was still there but it seemed less severe than earlier. I looked around the room. I had never been here before I'm sure if it. It was a cosy siting room and I was lying on the comfortable corner couch. A small blue blanket was draped over me keeping me bare chest warm. Where the hell did my shirt go? My eyes widened when I realised my half nakedness and I was just about to get up when I heard someone clear there throat. I looked towards the door of the room and realised someone had came in without me even noticing.
A girl. A beautiful girl. A beautiful girl holding a plate of pancakes. Am I dreaming? I pinched myself just in case.
I heard her chuckle as she walked closer to me putting the plate next to me on the couch. She looked down at my hungover face.
"Did you just pinch yourself?"
I couldn't speak. I couldn't even breathe. She was breathtaking. She was wearing a simple tracksuit with a plain top but still she looked amazing. Her wavy dark blonde hair reached almost the bottom of her back. Her eyes were so blue and stood out from the pale, lightly freckled skin on her face. I wouldn't dare look into her eyes, I could even faint. I just notice them as she looked down at her feet while waiting for a response out of me. Oh crap, what do I say? I don't even know who she is or where I am. I just decided I'd wait for her to talk again. I wasn't waiting long.
"Are you okay Kevin? I'm Ciara by the way. This is my house. You got pretty drunk last night do you remember?"
Hearing a girl like her saying my name just gave me shivers on my arms. I know I sound pathetic but I'm hopeless with girls. It's not that they aren't attracted to me it's just that I don't really have the confidence to talk to them. I mean who would want to go out with a guy like me? I'm just like Aaron's sidekick. A nobody. I wouldn't be good enough for any girl, not to mention one as pretty as the girl standing above me. Not in a million years.
I grabbed a pancake after muttering a thanks to her. It was delicious. I wanted to ask her if she made them herself but I don't want to sound weird. I really don't want to say the wrong thing. She'll think I'm a freak. Every time she looks away from me I stare at her and whenever she looks I look away. I can't help it she's too pretty. Maybe I should pinch myself again, this situation seems too good to be true. I guess I'll have to try my best to reply so she doesn't think I'm a complete imbecile.
"Ya...uh...I'm..f-f-fine..where am I?"
God I'm so pathetic. I'm surprised she doesn't burst out laughing at me.She doesn't get a chance to answer as Aaron enters the room. I sit up on the bed and stare at Ciara who is standing near me. I can smell her perfume. It's driving me crazy. All I want to do is get up and her hold her in my arms to see what it would feel like but I know that's never going to happen.
"About time you woke up man, you've been asleep for the past 15 hours. How's the hangover? This is Ciara by the way and this is her house. Last night you got so hammered and my parents came home so I tried taking you to Sarah to mind you but she was working night shift and was too busy. My car broke down so Ciara let me borrow hers. When I told her you had no place to sleep she said you could stay here because she lives on her own and she wouldn't mind. We owe her one man."
When he finished his little story I couldn't help but notice Ciara blushing. Typical. I should've known. My best friend works his charm yet again. I'm just Aaron's stupid fool of a friend. I never get noticed.
Ciara sat down on the opposite end of the couch and grabbed the tv remote from the foot rest. She's acting so casual for having two basically strangers in her sitting room.
"I'm n-n-not too bad uh I could do w-w-with a glass of w-w-water" Shit. I couldn't help but mutter. Now Aaron knows somethings up. He gave me a cheeky smirk.
"Hold on I'll get you one. I'm sure I'll be able to find my way round the kitchen. I'll leave you two to get to know each other."
I glared at him before placing my plate on the coffee table in front of me. Does he enjoy embarrassing me? Ugh, I'm getting him back so bad for this. He knows I can't talk to girls!
"Thanks uh f-f-for everything." She's going to think I have a speech impediment. Great.
I looked at over at her. She was staring at me and smiling. We finally made the eye contact I was dreading. My ugly brown eyes could not look away from her blue ones. It was mesmerising. She probably thinks I have staring problems now. Oh great. This is too much. I got a weird feeling in my stomach as her smile grew larger. A small smile made its way on to my lips when I heard a loud crash.
Another girl had entered the house while I was too busy being lost in Ciara's eyes to notice. She was pretty but she had nothing on Ciara. She was standing in the door of the sitting room staring wide eyed at something beside her. And beside her stood my best friend, also wide eyed, with my glass of water spilt all over the floor.
This must be THE girl. I thought to myself. Now it's my turn to embarrass Aaron.
