A/N: This chapter really kicks off the story. Enjoy ;)It was very tempting to forget about it all, to disregard the fact that I now have the opportunity to attend the party and just stay home instead. But I couldn’t, not if I wanted to teach Wayne a lesson for calling me a liar. It hurt, you know, the way he insulted me so effortlessly. You’d think he would have more of a heart—at least I would.
But I was different than these people; Neffie wasn’t wrong when she said it. Whether most of them came from the same high school or not, I would always be different. Why? That was one thing I didn’t know.
Sheena was gone, always gone. Whenever I walked into the room she’d leave. Now I didn’t know where she was, or when she would be back, but it was hard to actually care. If she wanted to create a hateful and grudge-holding atmosphere between us, then so be it. I wasn’t going to stop her, and I definitely wasn’t going to try to mend things either. Although, if there were to be any talking going on between Sheena and I, it would have to be about the items I found under her bed.
What would she be using those for?
I didn’t even want to imagine it, the possibilities my discovery held. To avoid creating silly ideas in my mind about Sheena, I pledged to try my best to forget about it.
Unless she decided to talk to me. Then I’d bring it up, of course.
Today was Saturday, easily dubbed the best day of the week. Things were calm on Saturdays, and relaxation was a promise. Even in the greatest of stress, I always found myself calm on Saturdays. The biggest reason being that Saturdays meant no school, not today and not tomorrow. Since my dorm wasn’t all that appealing, with its lonely and solemn feel, I decided to roam around the campus for a while. I left the college doors the same way I came in on that first day, and breathed in the fresh, clean air.
Students were scattered about in their usual outdoor clusters. I joined a group consisting of Hunter, Travis, and a boy named Jesse.
“Hey guys.” I told them, sitting down on the grass next to them. They all greeted me. “Studying, are we?”
“Yeah, I am.” Jesse said. “Those guys are just playing around.”
“It’s whatever; we have all day to study anyway. They’ll catch up.” I said, now lying on my side to get a better view of what subject Jesse was reviewing. Global Studies—perfect. That was one pop quiz that I knew I would pass.
“If you want to call from now until 5 o’ clock ‘all day’, then suit yourself.” Hunter offered. I looked down at my wristwatch to see that it was well after one in the afternoon.
“What’s happening at five o’ clock?” I asked.
“You didn’t hear?” He asked. I shook my head. “Brian and Wayne are inviting everyone who is attending their party to visit the apartment, just to see what the space will be like. And it’s also so that they can kind of take attendance, so on the day of the party they can make sure everybody is on the party list.”
Travis nodded to confirm the truth in Hunter’s explanation. I looked away, thinking. This would determine it, whether I went to the party or not. Truthfully, I didn’t want to go. Not because of Neffie or Sheena’s attendance, but because of the fact that Wayne’s words really hurt. It seemed almost impossible to look at him anymore, much less go to his apartment. The only way I could prove him wrong, though, was to go. But how could I know that going to the party would prove me not to be a liar in his eyes? What if Neffie told Wayne that I was lying about something else?
