No Ones POV:
Percy strode out of the crowded medical bay leaving the others to dwell on what he said. After a long and awkward silence Steve finally spoke up.
"Thor, was Percy the hero in that story you told us? The one who saved the world and lost his friends in the process? Who led two wars?"
"Yes Captain of America, Percy was the hero to wich my story referred. I am afraid I won't be much help elaborating his explanation. My knowledge of the Greeks and their accomplishments are limited. Perhaps the ghost king will be able to tell you more when he awakens." Thor gestured toward the slumbering form of Nico.
"Ghost king!?" Pepper squeaked.
"The illigament son of Hades Greek god of the underworld. He is a very powerful demigod as well as the cousin of Perceus."
"You called?" Nico drawled lazily sitting up and wiping the sleep from his eyes.
"We were wondering if you could explain your gods in more detail as well as the camps and Percy's life. His explanation was far from friendly."
Nico frowned, the shadows on his face deepening.
"You know he wasn't always like that. That seaweed brain was one of the sweetest, happiest people I knew. Percy was once lively trusting, and loyal. Everyone, expessially me *Nico blushed*, looked up to him. And he wasn't always all-powerful either. Believe it or not he used to be famous for blowing up toilets, being the worst shot Chiron had ever seen and running slower than a tree. Let me explain camp. It is disguised as a strawberry farm in long island and it is the best place on earth. At the time Percy first arrived at camp there was 12 cabins for the twelve major gods. After the Titan war we expanded so now we have cabins for most of the minor gods as well. Each camper sleeps in their godly parents cabin after being chosen. After the Titan war Percy wished for the gods to pay more attention to their kids instead of becoming a god so now it is unusual to be chosen later than your twelfth birthday except for special circumstances. In camp we have everything ranging from the sword fighting arena to the forge for training. One side of camp is taken up with the woods where we practice fighting monsters and play capture the flag. We eat in the dining pavilion. There is also the big house where Chiron and our camp director Mr. D stay which is also where the infirmary is. The Oracle used to be kept in the attic but when Rachel took the job she was relocated to a cave at the edge of camp. Camp was always strange but it all started going crazy when Percy went on a field trip at age twelve... "
He continued on telling them everything he could remember about Percy, himself and camp in general. He told them all about Annabeth and the seven and the sacrifices they made. He even told them about how he and Will started dating. It took many hours and they all asked multiple questions. When he finally finished the Avengers (and Pepper) all felt closer to the two boys. Even Tony had listened from his position in the hospital bed.
"So your telling me Percy could have been a god but said no? For a girl? Seriously?" Clint asked incredulously.
"His fatal flaw is (or at least was) personal loyalty. Athena once told him that he would let the world burn in order to save his friend. And it's true. Percy fell in Tartarus, literally hell, so be could stay with Annabeth. He refused to let her go alone. Like I said, Percy is by far the most loyal person this world has ever seen."
"So that's what he meant" Pepper mumbled.
"What?"
"Percy said something about 'not wanting what was done to him done to me and my boyfriend' and then he swore to protect us in apology after he broke into the tower to murder Tony."
"He did WHAT?" Tony spluttered.
"Percy is a lot of things but he was never, ever heartless. I guess you reminded him of Annabeth."
"Can... Can you show us a picture? From before?" Cap asked hesidently.
Nico smiled and pulled out his wallet. Inside was five photos. The first, Percy, Thalia and him arm and arm, the forbidden children of the big three together. The second, was a picture of camp from above. It was labeled "test flight of the argo two." The third was a picture of the seven in New Rome, taken by Reyna an hour before the Leo accident. This picture was looked at with reverence by the Avengers (and Pepper) because by now they felt like they knew the seven.
"They are so young. And look at Percy! He's wearing a dress!"
"It's, ah... actually a toga. He was... *cough* praetor."
"He looks so different. He's beaming. And no wonder, Annabeth is gorgeous. They all are. Such big smiles."
"And that's them about to go to war. You should have seen 'em in times of peace."
The fourth photo was of twelve year old Percy standing next to Annabeth and Grover. It was labeled "About to embark on first quest."
"She's taller than him" Clint said while trying to not laugh.
"So young... What was their first quest?"
"Remember that really weird weather a few years back? Hurricanes and tsunamis? Yea well Zues and Poseidon were fighting. Mr. Lightning was convinced Poseidon had stolen his master bolt. When he found out Percy was Poseidon's son he went bat shit crazy and so Percy, Annabeth and Grover had to go find it. They thought it was my dad who stole it but it wasn't and at the same time dad's shadow helm was stolen as well. He thought it was Percy too. So there Percy is, twelve years old running around with a daughter of Athena who hates him and a goat man who is known for failing stuff, heading straight for someone who not only wanted to kill him, also did not possess what he needed. It turns out it was Ares who stole the idems after Kronos whispered in his ear. Percy eventually had a sword fight with Ares, who btw is god of WAR, beat him and was cursed. He got the master bolt back in time for the solstice but unfortunately discovered his friend Luke had betrayed them all and was working with Kronos. Luke almost killed Percy. Annabeth was heartbroken because she looked up to Luke more than anyone else and even had a crush on him. That was the first step toward the titan war."
"Perceus must be a skilled warrior to have vanquished the war god at such a young age. It would be an honor to fight along side him in battle." Thor boomed.
"It is. And you know that curse I mentioned? When he saw Annabeth killed during the giant war something inside him snapped. He was raised up in a glowing ball of light and that curse was lifted. It had been on him for so long I think he had forgotten it was even there but when it was removed the very atoms of his body changed. "
"What was the curse?" Steve asked
"Ares cursed him so that every time he raised his sword in battle he should look out, because Ares would be against him. I'm sorry but I can't remember the exact wording"
"And he still won all those battles and wars?"
"Yup. Percy is the most powerful being I have ever laid eyes on."
"Neeks you should know better than that. If I was so powerful none of them would have died. You should know better than anyone with Bianca-"
Nico turned to face the son of the sea. His eyes glared daggers but the seaweed brain wasn't affected.
"Don't. Just don't. Bianca was not your fault. None of the deaths were your fault. It is an insult to their memory to blame yourself for their deaths. Stop. Please please stop. I, a son of Hades have forgiven you. My fatal flaw is literally holding grudges. How is it I can get past that but you still can't forgive yourself?"
"Because being loyal has its problems. Once someone has my trust I will do anything for them. Breaking that trust and loyalty is something you can almost never get back from and I have lost trust in myself."
