"Alec we've been walking forever and to top it off IM WEARING HEELS! Are we almost there yet?" I was half tempted to take my shoes off and deal with the broken glass and trash on the ground, then walk another mile in these.
"Oh my god. Your being such a girl right now! We're almost there Stels." I saw him roll his eyes out of the corner of mine and sighed out of frustration.
"If I'm being such a girl then I wouldn't complain about these shoes now would I? You try walking in these!"
Alec stopped walking and just looked at me and laughed.
"What? I didn't say anything funny did I?" I thought about this for a minute while watching him wait for me to put the pieces together. "YOU DID DIDN'T YOU! YOU LITTLE-!" I went after him forgetting about the pain in my feet and almost fell.
"Careful Stels," he said when he caught me, "Mom will kill you if you ruin your make-up and hair." He gave me that half smirk that always calmed me down and made me smile with him.
"Sorry... I'm just on edge. My birthdays haven't been the greatest if you can remember since my 11th..." I sigh and start walking with him again.
"I know I'm sorry but I promise you," he took my hand and smiled at me again, "This one is going to be great. Do you trust me?" He looked at me with nervous eyes for once in his life and waited for my response.
"Of course I do Al. I trust you more than mom and dad, I trust you with my life." I hugged him tightly and felt him breathe a sigh of relief.
"Great, because we're here." He seemed really excited, but when I looked around all I could see was the beginning of the woods, a river, a few rocks that we use to play on as kids and... Wait, what? What is that? Is that a?
Oh. My. God.
"This is why I've walked for miles in these shoes? For a boat ride across the river?" I looked at me confused.
"Well not exactly. We're not going anywhere but you always said that you've wanted to be on a boat, see what it was like and I thought..." He was getting flustered and started to blush.
"Alec. I love it!" I hugged him for what felt like the millionth time that day and felt his chest move up and down while he chuckled at how I reacted.
"Come on, let's go check it out." He took my hand and lead me into the boat but made me close my eyes.
"Are your eyes still closed?"
"Yes Alec they're still closed. Can I open them now!" I was so excited to see what he had done that made me close my eyes.
"Ok Stels. You can open them now."
I opened my eyes to see the boat decorated with lanterns hanging off of wires, candles lit up on four tables and the people I cared most about there shouting happy birthday to me.
My mom and dad were dressed up in the nicest outfits they could, find smiling at me. My two best friends Maddie and Parker who were also dressed up.
Maddie and Parker walked up to me and crushed me each with their bear like hugs.
"Happy birthday Stella!" Maddie screeched in my ear. Like no kidding a velociraptor screech kind of sound.
"Thanks you guys! So whose idea was this anyways? Was it all Alec or were there parts coming from everyone?" I ask them.
"Nope," Parker popped the p like he usually does, "It was all Alec." He gives me a huge toothy grin and chuckles.
"You guys are the best did you know that?" I whisper to them while hugging them tightly.
"We know. Now come on, its party time!" Maddie drags me to the middle of the boat and starts to dance when the music kicks up.
That's how the rest of my birthday was spent, with the ones I cared about more than my own life, dancing on a boat.
