I was walking down the street on the way home when I happened to look down an alley. I saw Dan and Travis holding someone up against the wall punching them.

I got a closer look and saw it was just a girl. "Dan! Travis!" I yelled at them. They saw it was me and dropped her quicker then they ran away.

I walked over to the girl and looked at her. Her clothes look worn and old, her shoes aren't to bad but still bad enough.

She must be from the other side of town.

I picked her up and started back to my house. Some might say mansion, but to me it's just a house. I got home and walked in through the front doors, hoping my mother or father weren't home.

I brought the girl up to my room on the top floor, which mainly consisted of my bedroom, bathroom, game room, work out room and even a mini kitchen.

I laid her down on my bed and went to go get a wash cloth to clean her up. Right when I was getting ready to look at her head to check for wounds, she woke up.

She looked around the room slowly waking up then found me.

"Where am I? Who are you?" She asked me frantically, while sitting up.

"It's alright. You're fine and safe now." I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Answer my question." She says with poison laced in her words.

She must not trust people so easily.

I was about to answer her when a voice, neither of ours, broke through the silence.

"Justin, I'm home honey!" My mom yells at me from the bottom of the stairs.

I lift my finger to the girls lips and motion for her to follow me. I put her in my closet so my mom wouldn't see her.

"Stay quiet alright? I promise nothing will happen to you." I close the door and sit at my desk just as my mom walks in.

"Hey sweet heart how was your day?" My mother asks from the doorway.

"It was fine. I went out for a run." I reply.

"That's nice dear, dinner will be ready in about an hour." She starts to walk away.

"Will dad be joining us tonight?" I ask hopefully.

"No not tonight, maybe tomorrow." She walks back downstairs.

That's what you say every night mom.

I stand up and go to my closet and open the door to see the girl breathing deeply. Like she is trying to control her breathing.

   "Are you alright?" I ask.

"Yes... I'm fine..." She wheezes out. "Not a fan... Of closed spaces..."

I take her out of the closet and set her down on my bed again.

"I never got your name by the way." I ask her softly.

   "It's Stella..." She replies quietly.

"Your obviously not from this side of town, so what are you doing so far away from your side?" I ask curiously.

"I uh... I just needed a change of scenery for a moment. It didn't work out to well as you can tell." She motions around herself.

I look at the clock and sigh. It's 4:37 p.m. I stand up and hold my hand out for her to take.

"You better get going. Your folks might be wondering where you went off to." I tell her.

She nods and stands up, refusing to take my hand, and starts to my door.

"I wouldn't go that way if I were you; my mother might see you and then I'd be in huge trouble." I say.

   "Trouble for what?"

"For being seen with you. For just talking and helping you, our sides don't get along too often you know." I chuckle.

"So how am I suppose to get out of your house then?" She places her hands on her hips as I look towards my bookshelf.

"This way." I walk over to my bookshelf and move it to reveal a hidden doorway that leads to the garden out back. I open it up and beckon for her to follow me. She gives me a skeptical look but follows anyway.

When we reach the end of the passageway I open the door and lead her through the garden. We get to a gate that leads to the river, separating the sides.

"Here we are, your side is over there." I point across the river. "You can use that bridge to get across or you can swim up to you."

"Thank you... For helping me. Most people would've just walked right past and let them do whatever they wanted with me." She looked at the river and grew paler by the second.

"No problem. Just try not to get on anyone else's bad side sweetheart." I tell her. "Have a nice walk home." I start to walk away but stop at the other side of the gate, making sure she got across alright.

After I see that she got across, which took a good 30-45 minutes for some odd reason, I go back inside and lay on my bed.

She was pretty cute. I'm glad that Travis and Dan didn't do too much damage to her, or else she would've had a hard time explaining to her folks what happened. Oh well, not my problem anymore.

At least that's what I thought.
