Act II scene 1

(Jiles comes in and sits at his desk. Rosa and Daimon follow him in and sit in the other chairs. The lights come up.)

Rosa: Well, that was an excellent dinner Jiles.

Jiles: I thought so myself. Didn't you think that dinner was worthy of kings and queens Daimon? (He laughs and so does Rosa.)

Daimon: (She smiles.) It was one of the best dinners I have ever had, but I'd like to get down to business. We haven't talked about my case all tonight.

Jiles: Daimon. You have to have patience with us. We take our time in such matters. We're in no rush. But if you would like to get down to business. I have no problems with it if Rosa doesn't have any .

Rosa: No problems here.

Daimon: Well, thank you. Iwant to know how that meeting with Leonora went.

Jiles: I told her that you were bringing charges against her sister. I told her your demands. Daimon: And of course she didn't agree with them?

Jiles: This is Leonora Marney. She'd give up her life to protect her sister . So I gave her another alternative .

Daimon: What do you mean?

Jiles: I added one more demand. If Leonora gave up the company to you then her sister would never see the inside of an institution.

Daimon: I don't want that company! Ijust want Zoe to be put away for assaulting me.

Jiles: You see Daimon. I want the company and with your help, I'll get it. But there's only one way that I'll get it if we trade Marney Inc. for Zoe's freedom.

Daimon: You mean Zoe would never go away , because of your greediness? Jiles: If that's what you want to call it, then yes.

Daimon: I won't do it. I want Zoe to pay for her actions and I want her to be put away before she harms anyone else. I was lucky, because I got out in time. Iwon't do this! This is your obsession not mine.

Jiles: You don't understand Daimon. You have no choice. You must help us.

Daimon: I have a choice, I can get another lawyer who doesn't care for the Marney company . This is not justice. This is revenge.
