Act Ill scene 1

(Jiles and Rosa enter. Rosa is lying on the couch and Jiles is talking on the phone.)

Jiles: . . .I know it's one o'clock in the morning, but I have to ask a question Jack! . . . I want to know if you would back me up on a business proposition? . . .Come on?!

Rosa: (She laughs.) He won't help you.

Jiles: . . .That's Rosa! . . .What's she doing? . . .(He covers the phone with his hand.) Should I give him a few details. That might make this horny bastard go along with my deal.

Rosa: I don't give a shit. Tell him what ever you want to. He's been after me ever since you and

I got together .

Jiles: (He takes his hand off the phone.) She's wrapped in a blanket with no bra on Jack. Rosa: Tell him Ijust threw my panties across the room. (She flings it on the desk.)

Jiles: . . .She just threw her underwear at me! . . .That's right! Guess what? ...She just open her blanket for ya Jack. (He covers the phone again.) This guy can't get enough!

Rosa: Oh I know. Are you cold?

Jiles: No! (Rosa lays back down on the couch and he takes his hand off the phone.) You had enough? . . .Good! Now about my business proposition . . . I like it when you listen to me. . .Now get this. My father's company is up for grabs. I have enough stock and with your help I can buy it back from Marney Inc.! . . .Do you understand me? . . .That's wonderful! . . .So you'll back me up? . . .What do you mean you have to think about?! . . .You want to talk to Rosa first?

Rosa: What does that jackass want now?!

Jiles: He wants you to talk to him. (Rosa stands up and sits in the chair as Jiles gets off.)

Rosa: (She takes the phone.) What do you want Jack? . . .You want what?! . . .Come on?! . . Do you really think that he'll agree to that? . . .Okay , if I say yes then will you agree to the proposition? . . .Good that's what I thought----

Jiles: What do you mean by saying yes?!

Rosa: I'm agreeing to go out with him only once, if he says yes to you! . . .Just wait a minute! He hasn't agreed yet.
