Day 8
Change-
1.make or become different
2. take or use another instead of++++
A week and a day Louis has been here. He talked to me everyday and kept me company. It felt different actually talking to someone after all these years. It felt nice actually.
Louis always found ways for me to laugh, I did the same with him. Even Harry began talking with us and hanging out. I felt something inside me had turned, like I still felt that everyone pitied be except Louis.
I was still a little on edge about Harry but he made terrible jokes that would make you laugh just because. It felt nice to laugh.
"Your changing, dear." Mr. Perkins said to me that afternoon as I cleaned.
"What do you mean?" I ask him. "Your smiling," he tells me. "I always smile around you." I tell him and he rolls his eyes. "Ava June I've known you before you were even born. I can tell a smile from a fake one. That boy makes you happy, you seem brighter."
"I'm still hiding form the world." I mumble. "Ava, why haven't you moved on?" He asks me and I look at one of the pictures of him and his family. "How have you moved on?" I ask him back and he chuckles.
"I found comfort in my friends, I found other things to make me happy. This is all temporary, you'll see them again. It doesn't help when you beat yourself up and hide from the world."
"I don't like everyone's pity in their eyes! I just want to get out of this town, everyone in this town knows! I want to go somewhere so nobody knows about me or my family unless I choose to tell them."
"Louis." Is all he says simply. He pays me and then I leave.
What did he mean?
I continue out my day. Only 2 more days until my birthday.
+•+•+•+•+•+
I hear a knock on my door, I go and open it to see Louis. "What's up?" I ask him. "Get ready we're going to go do something." I nod and grab my jacket and shoes. I get into his car. Along the drive I fix my hair into a messy bun. I really needed to cut my hair, but short hair just reminded me of my mother.
She had brown hair, it was always cut into a bob. It looked perfect, she was perfect. I push those thought away.
"Where are we going?" I ask him and he smiles. "I know this place out of town in the town next over that I want to take you to. They have the best ice cream." He tells me and I begin to notice were nearing the town line. I freak out and grab his wheel making him swerve. Once he caught control again he stops.
"What the hell was that for?" He asks me getting angry. "I can't do this." I state and get out of the car and run. I run through the many trees, the many familiar trees and I soon came to my back door. I open the door, the memories hunting me. I lock both doors and grab my blanket, I walk down the hall that was my house.
"You gonna help mommy re-decorated daddy and I's room?" My mom asked me at age 7. I nod and plop myself onto their bed. "That should go there, and your bed right there so you can look out your window every night."
"That's a good idea, you know how I love the stars." She runs her hands in my brown hair. "We should cut your hair baby. What do you think?" She asks me.
"Not like yours, that's for older people." I tell her and she chuckles. "Okay, I'll make an appointment. Go get ready and make dad lunch so we can take it up to his office. Then we'll get your hair done." I nod and hop off her bed going to my room. I put on one of my princess shirts with a pair of shorts and my sandals. After that I go to the kitchen to make my dad a sandwich.
"Can we go to Anne's diner?" I ask my mom when she comes into the kitchen. "Of course! Does May want to come?"
"I'll go down the street and ask, meet me over there?" She nods. "Be carful!"
I push the memory away as I stare straight at the door. I haven't been in my parents room in forever. I open the door a little, everything in its place with dust. I shut the door back and then I open my door a little, right across the hall. My room had May's things in it from that night. My present. I close the door and go straight to the couch.
That was enough for tonight.
