If love were a rose
How I would despise it so
It pierces your skin
And its beauty is not everlasting.
If love were a river
I would despise it even more
It leaves the gentle streams
To join a mightier ocean.
But love is not either
It is a gentle dove
It burns away your hatred
It burns away violence
As you now have discovered peace.
