Yoona's Point of View
"So... you gonna tell me what happened?"
Eunji and I were sat in her living room, textbooks spread across the floor. The boys hadn't arrived yet, and Eunji took up the opportunity to ask about the recent week.
"Err.. the thing with Heechul?" I asked, even though I knew that was what she wanted to know. She nodded, and I giggled nervously, before explaining what happened.
"But, he seems to be normal enough with us anyway so it's not a big deal," I shrugged, and Eunji chuckled. "Called it," She smiled smugly, and I shoved her lightly. "I knew he had a thing for you. It was obvious," She giggled, and I just smiled, still feeling a little bit bad for him.
"And what about Jungkook?"
I looked up at her, and she was staring at me expectantly. I gulped. "What about him?" I answered, scrunching my face in confusion. Eunji raised an eyebrow. "I think you already know what I mean." She muttered, causing myself to let out a sigh. I adjusted my position on the floor and pulled the cushion closer towards my body.
"Well.. I don't actually know. He hasn't walked home with Heechul and I all week, he gets picked up by a girl and goes somewhere. I asked him where they go, but he just shrugged and said nowhere. But it's obviously somewhere," I gritted my teeth, slightly annoyed now by saying it out loud. "I'm not clingy, I don't like talking 24/7 but he doesn't text me in the evenings like he used to. I mean, I'm happy with a short conversation every few days you know? But he doesn't seem to even use his phone, at least not to talk to me." I sighed, tears suddenly springing to my eyes. "What if...what if he's tired of me?" A single tear rolled down my cheek at voicing the lingering feeling in my mind that I hoped wouldn't be true.
Eunji's eyes widened. "Hey, Yoona! Don't think like that," She scooted over and placed a comforting arm around my shoulders. "Did he mention who she was?"
I shook my head. He never explained who she was or why he'd always go with her after school.
"I'm sure she's just a friend," Eunji mumbled, but it wasn't convincing. "He'll get over whatever it is, he's probably just busy, I doubt-"
The doorbell rang, indicating the arrival of the other two. "Don't worry about it, okay?" Eunji patted my shoulder as she left to open the door.
It was exam period.
I focused the majority of my time on my studies, and because of this I didn't let myself have too much time thinking about Jungkook, who was also extremely busy.
Slowly but surely, the exam period ended, much to the delight of every student in our year. Why? Because it meant the end of school, of course!
"This is weird," Baekhyun stated. "Why?" Eunji quizzed, as we gathered outside the exam hall after our last exam finished.
"Because.. no more revision until the next set of exams, which are still a while away," Baekhyun grinned, as we nodded in agreement. "Party at my place?" Eunji laughed, being the upbeat one that she is, and the boys immediately nodded. "Sounds good to me," They grinned. "Tonight," She confirmed and they began discussing details while my eyes wandered. Where was he?
"Hey, how did it go? All well?" Jungkook bounded up to the four us. "Good, yours?" Heechul smiled, and Jungkook nodded in agreement. "Anyway, I have to go, I'll see you later!" He was about to scurry off again before Eunji grabbed his arm.
"Tonight, party at mine, no excuses!" She chuckled. Surprisingly he grinned and nodded, before Eunji let him go. I followed his moving body through the crowd to, again, be picked up by her. Sighing, I walked away, ignoring the callings of my friends behind me.
"Good?" I asked myself, scrutinising my outfit in the mirror. I donned an elegant cream coloured dress that reached just below mid-thigh length, and silver heels. It was a simple dress with a lace pattern, but pretty none the less. Clutching my purse, I grabbed my jacket and slipped it on. I took one last glance in the mirror. I will find out tonight.
"Hey! Looking amazing as always," Eunji grinned as she hugged me. The house was already bursting with life, people milling around and music blasting through speakers. I grinned at the party atmosphere, ready to have a good time. "Come on," Eunji clasped my hand and dragged me to a table of refreshments, and I grabbed a glass of juice before she shouted in my ear, "Heechul and Baekhyun are in the living room I think, Jungkook's not here yet," She made herself heard over the music before getting the door again when it rang. I grinned and, pushing thoughts of Jungkook out of my mind for now, and walked over to a group of friends.
My throat was parched from singing along to the music, and my feet hurt from dancing. Weaving through the people, I headed to the kitchen, seeing a familiar boy already in there.
"Jungkook? When did you get here," I smiled, and he smiled back. "Just now," He grinned, "I'm a little late." I nodded, chuckling. "Your hair...you dyed it..." My jaw dropped when I noticed. His previously black hair was now cut shorter, and red/maroon in colour. It looked good. "It looks great," I complimented, and he chuckled, thanking me. "You look....beautiful," He muttered, but I heard it and blushed, thankfully the dim lights must have disguised it. Then I remembered, I need to find out why he's been avoiding me. I wanted to ask him, but every time I opened my mouth my mind would back out, afraid of the answer.
"Jungkook...I think I know why you've been off with me lately," I spoke quietly, but he still managed to hear it over the music. He straightened up, his posture stiffening and his eyes widening. "You do?"
I nodded, and he looked flustered, "Yoona, I-"
"Jungkook. You're tired of me, aren't you?!" I let out, not even realising the tears that had begun to roll down my cheeks of their accord. I watched his face turn to surprise, almost relief. Is there something else I didn't know? His eyes stared back at me steadily, with hints of pain and sorrow in them. But he kept his gaze steady, and my heart felt like shattering. Tell me I'm wrong. Jeon Jungkook, tell me I'm wrong. The next two words sent the glass in my hand tumbling to the floor, smashing into little pieces.
"You're right."
