Mai's Story ( Naru x Mai)

Chapter 15

I ran over to Mai and caught her in my arms as she collapsed.

"Mai!!" I shouted out as I fumbled trying to get a pulse on my wife's neck. Lin came over and moved my hands and started checking, he shook his head soon after he pressed his fingertips to her neck, I stared at the limp body of Mai. I laid her down on the ground softly and started pumping her chest, pressing my mouth against her and breathing into hers. I slowly built up a tiny amount of PK and shot it into her chest, she shot awake, I stared at her chocolate brown eyes as she wrapped her arms around my torso loosely. I smiled slightly and slowly sat her up.

"Take it, slow love...." I muttered, pulling away from her lips, Lin gave a small smile to us and got up taking John's wrist and dragging him out. I held a soft smile on my face as I engulfed her in my arms.

"I thought I lost you there for a minute..." I felt her smile slightly against my neck.

"Hm... Yea..." I smiled and kissed her ear softly whispering sweet nothings into it, her eyes drooped slightly.

"No, no love, you can't fall asleep yet... I know you're exhausted... But please... Not yet...." She nodded drowsily and blinked softly, her lashes hitting my skin softly, I picked her up slowly and left the room. This case was over....

~~A Few Months Later~~

I sighed softly as I went through the case files while sitting on the living room couch. I loud knock sounded from the front of the house, I got up slowly and walked over tiredly, I opened it to mother and father.

"Welcome..." I muttered moving aside for them to come in, they carried in a sleeping Toshiro and a bubbly Ichigo. I smiled slightly and picked Ichigo up.

"Hey, kiddo..." He smiled at me and hugged me around the neck loosely, I rubbed his back walking back over to the couch.

"You look tired dear..." My mother said worriedly, I shook my head slightly, I don't want them to worry...

"I'm fine... Thank you for taking the kids today... Mai was able to sleep all day... She was fairly tired, didn't get much sleep last night..." They nodded in understanding and smiled at me, I gave a slight smile and got up, picking the two boys up and carrying them to their room. I laid them both in their cribs and left to continue my conversation with mother and father. After a few hours, it was around midnight, I got up and showed them to the door, waving goodbye as they drove off. I picked up the table and turned the lights off, going upstairs to mine and Mai's room, I slipped into bed quietly and almost immediately Mai's smalled frame curled into my side, I sighed ever so softly in content. I wrapped my arm around her waist lightly as the other arm lay under my head, I dozed off slowly falling asleep.

~~Time Skip Again~~A Few Days Later~~

I opened my eyes sluggishly as Mai shifted on the bed slowly, I blinked the remaining sleep away from my eyes and looked down to meet chocolate brown orbs. I smiled slightly and pecked her lips softly.

"Morning..." My voice husky from sleep whispered to her softly, I turned my head slightly and looked at the clock. In a vibrant red the numbers read '7:30 AM' I smiled and moved my arm from under Mai's waist and slowly got out of bed.

"Almost time for wor-" I stopped myself and checked the calendar we kept on the door.

"Day off? Since.... When...?" I questioned as I saw Mai's neat handwriting written on the calendar for today 'Naru's Day Off~ <3' I smiled and looked over at the young woman.

"Day off?" She nodded and got out of bed, taking her thin robe and wrapping it around herself.

"You've been working really hard lately... So I figured you needed one... It's been awhile since you had one, I thought we could take the kids out today..." I smiled and walked over to her, taking her hands in mine and interlacing our fingers.

"Sounds like a plan love..." She looked up at me and smiled, I pecked her lips again and let her hands go, she walked into the bathroom and closed the door, I heard the water running soon after. I sighed and stripped from my night clothes and got into my normal attire spraying cologne lightly and leaving the room to check on the boys. I popped into their room and saw Ichigo squirming uncomfortably in his crib, holding onto the side railing. I picked him up.

"What's wrong?" I questioned softly with a slight coo to my voice, He squirmed in my arms and kicked his legs, I took a slight sniff of the air and retracted my head slightly.

"I see... Alright then, I'll change you and wipe you up, alright?" He gave me a smiled and grabbed my cheeks, squeezing them softly, I smiled slightly and set him down on the changing table we had in the corner. I unbuttoned his onesie and tugged it off him gently, next I undid the diaper he had on and tossed it into the garbage, taking a baby wipe and cleaning him up, throwing that away after. I took out a new diaper and lifted him up slightly to lay it down, doing it up around his waist, I opened his drawer and took out a little outfit for the day and changed him into it. I picked him up and set him next to his toys that littered the ground. Toshiro started crying and making grabbing motions to me, I walked over and lifted him up, I changed him into an outfit and picked both of them up, walking downstairs, bouncing them in my arms as I went. I walked into the kitchen I saw Mai there with damp hair and a loose shirt hanging on her torso with shorts, I opened the cabinet after setting the kids in highchairs and grabbed some breakfast items for Mai and I, then grabbing two bottles of milk from the fridge and giving one to Toshiro and the other to Ichigo. We started introducing them to bottled milk at around the six months age, slowly progressing into just bottled milk. I smiled and hugged Mai to my side lightly.e

"Thank you, Mai...." She looked at me with questioning eyes.

"For?" She questioned, I smiled and looked over at the two boys who were goofing around with the bottles.

"For everything..." I muttered and stole her lips in a light kiss.
