Eventually, I learned a form (kata) that I needed for gold (yellow) belt. I also learned combinations I could use for sparring. All I had left to learn was my board break technique and the tenants of Taekwondo. My board technique was a forward elbow strike. That week, I memorized the 5 tenants: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. A few days later, it was my gold (yellow) belt test. Next class, I got my belt along with a certificate.
