Mary Margaret picked the hat up from the ground that had blown from the trees in Jefferson's garden.
It was early morning now and the sky a pale grey colour.
They looked around the garden.
"There's no sign of him anywhere." said Emma, looking around, the gun in her hand.
"Who was he?" asked Mary Margaret.
"A very lonely man." she took the hat from her hands. "By the way, have you been taking kickboxing and not telling me about it?"
"I've no idea where that came from." she walked around to the front of the house and Emma followed a little behind.
"Emma, look."
Emma ran towards her and saw a cover which seemed to be over a car.
She pulled it off and smiled in relieve, opening the door and finding the keys on the seat. "Oh!" she let out in relief, throwing the hat into the car.
Mary Margaret stood near by, staring ahead.
Emma shook the keys in her hands and smiled at Mary Margaret.
She sighed.
Emma shut the door and walked towards her.
Mary Margaret looked around nervously, at loss at what to do or say.
Emma looked down at the ground, thinking, pitying her.
"So, Sherif, I guess you'll be taking me back now."
She glanced at her yellow Bug and threw her the keys. "Here, go."
Mary Margaret caught them and looked down at them. "You want me to run?"
"No. But it's your choice. Just know something, running ain't easy. Ive done my share of it. And once you go, there's no stopping."
"Emma, everyone thinks I killed Kathryn........" she started.
"Mary Margaret, you have to believe me, you have to trust me. I know it seems impossible, but I can get you out of this."
"Why is it so important to you what happens to me?"
"Because when Regina framed me, and you bailed me out I asked you why and you said you trusted me........" he voice quivered and tears filled in her eyes. "........And then when u wanted to leave Storybrooke cause I thought it was best for Henry, you told me I needed to stay because that was best for him........ And I realised all my life I have been alone...... Walls up...... Nobody's ever been there for me except for you. And I can't lose that, I cannot lose my family."
"Family?" she smiled.
"Friends. Whatever.......... You know what I mean. Wouldn't you rather face this together than alone?"
Mary Margaret handed her back the keys and Emma put her hand in hers to take them. Mary Margaret grasped it tight and stared at Emma.
Then in the distance they heard the bell tolling. They both turned and looked down at the town of Storybrooke.
"The arraignment." said Emma. "Regina......."

Regina parked her car outside the sherif's station and stepped put, pulling her black handbag over her shoulder. She looked around and stepped onto the empty parking space marked SHERIF, a hint of a smile in her face.
She walked into the Sherif's station and walked down the hall and into the Office, her face dropping when she saw the cell ahead occupied. She stopped in her tracks with a look of horror.
Mary Margaret sat in the jail cell, reading the Storybrook Daily Mirror. She looked from her paper. "Madam Mayor."
She pulled on a quick smile. "Good morning."
Mr. Gold then stepped into the Sherif's Office. "Excuse me, but my client is not having any visitors." he said, stepping in front of Regina.
"Of course not." she glared at him.
"I'll see you out."
She walked out of the Office and Mr. Gold followed.
Mary Margaret watched them go, suspiciously.
Regina stomped down the hall then turned on her heal to face Mr. Gold.
"What is she doing here?" she said.
"She came back."
"You said this was going to work. That she'd take the key. That she'd go."
"And she did. But if seems that Miss. Swan is rather more resourceful than we thought..... Fear not, Your Majesty, Miss. Blanchard's still guilty of murder......."
Regina's eyes widened a little on how he addressed her.
"......You may get get what you want."
"Oh, I better. The only reason I made a deal with you, Gold, is because I wanted results."
"And results you shall have....... See you at the arrangement."
She glared and him and stomped out of the Station.

Emma walked towards Henry who sat outside school on a bench, alone.
"Henry." she sat down next to him. "Well, I found Mary Margaret."
"How is she?" he asked.
"She's okay. Other than being on trail for murder, she's fine."
Then a group of girls from Henry's class walked by.
"Hi, Henry." said Paige as she walked by.
Henry smiled at her then looked back at Emma who stared at Paige as she walked away.
"Who is that?" she asked.
"Her name is Paige. She goes to school with me."
Emma thought for a moment and looked back at Henry. "Henry, do you have your story book with you? Can I see it?"
He pulled off his backpack. "Yeah. Why?" he ruffled through his bag.
"I'm just curious about something." she watched as Paige walked up the steps with her friends and into the school. She then took the nook from Henry and opened it on her lap. She sighed as she ruffled through the pages and found the story of the Mad Hatter. She looked at the pictures curiously.
"What? What is it?" asked Henry.
"Nothing." she breathed, staring at the firmilure picture of the Mad Hatter.

Jefferson sat in a humongous room in the Queen of Hearts castle, filled with millions upon millions of hat's he had made, of different sizes, colours and shapes.
He sat in the midst of them all snipping with his scissors furiously.
"Get it to work. Get it to work. Get it to work. Get it to work." he muttered. "Get it to work. Get it to work. Get it to work." he cryed. "Just get it to work. Get it to work. Get it to work. Get it to work." he muttered attempting to create a hat with magic. "Get it to work. Get it to work. Get it to work. Get it to work." he cryed. "Get it to work. Get it to work! Get it to work!"

******************************

Emma stared down at the story book, in a daze.
"Emma? Emma?" Henry's voice called.
Emma quickly looked up at him, then back at the book.
The school bell rang and the children ran to to the school.
"I got to go." he said.
"Right." she looked up at him. "Can I hold onto this?" she indicated to the story book.
Henry looked up at her in surprise. "Absolutely." he beamed. He stood up and ran with the other kids up to steps and into the school.
Emma watched him go then looked back down at the story book, a smile growing on her face as she read the stories in the empty school yard.
