When Phil dozed off the following night, the dream wasn't of the events after the last. This one was one before, a sweet one in a way. It was a sunnier day than before. Instead of younger him waiting at the park he was by the bench on the outside of it with a bright smile as his best friend sat beside him.

"My mum says thank you for your mum always making me sandwiches. She's a bit busy because she's not very happy at the moment." The brown-haired one smiled softly, looking at the busy road before them.

Phil could see his younger self squirm in his seat. "No problem." He says through clenched teeth.

The small boy giggled, looking back at the road. He quickly got up when he saw a small ball of fur soon recognisable as a cat on the other side of the road.

"Look! Look Phil look! Oh my God look at how cute it is!" He beamed brightly, jumping up onto his feet.

Phil stood up also, watching warily knowing how easily distracted his friend could be once animals were involved.

"It's coming towards me Phil look!" The boy squealed with excitement, hand on his pounding chest.

The small cat tentatively trudged its small paw forwards onto the road once the cars passing slowed down. It's fur was up in all different directions, clearly a stray with one eye closed seemingly from a scratch.

"It's a little hurt but all happy and smiley and cute." The small boy breathed out in awe.

"Just like you." Phil responded with a small smile, admiringly staring at the small boy.

The cat trudged forward to halfway across the road. It slowly limped the other half, when a car came racing down before it had a chance to move faster than it's small legs could carry it.

"NO!" The young boy screamed, without a second thought running onto the road to push the cat out of the way.

The following events occurred so quickly that they could easily be missed in a blink of an eye.

But the facts were that the small boy  ran into the road upon an upcoming car. But when the car raced past, the only result was the small boy and the small cat laying upon its chest whom after being pushed laid on the pavement, only a few scratches littering his elbows which broke the fall for him and the cat.

And from the other side of the road was where Phil somehow stood, limping safely back to them as he crossed the road. This time he had a smile resembling to all the smiles the other boy would always shoot back.

"PHIl!" The boy screeched chasing after Phil and sitting him down on a bench.

Phil patted his friend's hair to clean the dust of slight rubble and rock away from it.

"Are you okay?" Phil asked.

"Of course I am! I-I'm sorry!" The small boy weeped as he tried to wrap the other one's bleeding ankle in his own little scarf that he had hung loosely around his neck to stop any bleeding.

"Don't worry, my mum will take care of this, she has a first aid kit at home." Phil beamed, causing his friend's features to relax slightly.

"Thank goodness you're okay. I don't know why you would do that, don't do that again!" The small boy huffed.

"Then don't run onto the road like that again." Phil retaliated easily.

The boy quickly turned to the cat that sat watching the two, one of its eyes wide.
