You may be wondering why I didn't stand up for that kid earlier. Well here's the deal. I would really like too. In fact I tried to once. It didn't work because no one takes me seriously anymore. The reason they don't take me seriously is the reason I don't talk.
Last year, believe it or not, I was popular. I had lots of friends. I voiced my opinions openly. I didn't care. One day, though, my "friends" decides that they had had enough. They started a bunch of rumors about me. Rumors that are too terrible to even write down. After that I kept my opinions to myself. I kept myself to myself. I try not to get too close to people in fear that they too will betray me like my last friends.
As I head back inside, I realize that Johnson has stopped picking on the boy. Just like I said, it never lasts. After about an hour of lectures about nonsense that won't be useful in the real world it is finally time to leave.
I walk outside to wait for my mom to pick me up and retreat to my usual corner of the sidewalk. I look around and see a new face walking toward me.
"Hello. What's your name?"
