A Good Friend

I turned around slowly to see-you guesses it- Johnson. He had a menacing smile on his face that reminded me of one of the psychopaths on TV right before they killed someone. Would this be a murder scene or would I leave unharmed?
     "Well hello there... Katie."
"My name is not Katie! It's Katherine," I said through gritted teeth.
"Whatever Katie. I see you are branching out again. Making new friends. I hope you remember what happened last year."
"Obviously," I said as memories flooded back.
"Well all I'm saying is that I hope something doesn't happen again," he said with a mischievous grin.
Macy spoke up,"You listen up you little jerk. She's my friend and nothing you do or say will change that. Why are you so insecure that you need to ruin other people's lives to help yours just a little bit? Really, get over yourself!"
Johnson stood there with a face of- I can't believe I'm saying this- defeat. He looked startled at the fact that someone would even try to stand up to him and in trying, succeed. He struggled for a comeback but obviously could not come up with one good enough.
"Well- um- well you are um-you are...STUPID!"
"Really that's the best you could come up with. And we aren't stupid. You know what class this is? That's right, the advanced class!" Macy said with a glorious look of triumph on her face. I stood there unable to speak. She stood up for me and barely even knew me. That's a good friend. I knew after this I couldn't have doubts about going to her house later.
Macy turned and grabbed my hand. She pulled me over to a table far away from my usual corner.
"Today, you are sitting with me."
