"Hi sweetie! How was your day?"
This coming from my mother, Julie Wissley. She is a mild-mannered woman, a typical 21st century mom.
"Normal."
"Any details?"
"Nope. Wait, tomorrow I am going over to this girls house. No big deal."
I immediately regretted the decision of telling her this. She has been kind of on my back about me not having friends since last year.
"Wow! Good for you. I was starting to believe you would never have friends again!"
"Mom! Stop! She's not my friend yet. Calm yourself down."
As we pulled into our driveway, I began to rethink my decision to go to Macy's house. What if I had been set up. What if Macy was tricking me? What if this was Johnson's way of saying,"I haven't forgot about you."
Of course it's a trick. Why would anyone actually be friends with you?
"Honey? Are you coming?"
"Yeah mom. One sec."
I would just call her. Say that I have a doctors appointment. No, she would never believe that. I would have to think of something else.
I got out of the car and ran into the house. Inside I was greeted by my special dog friend Rosey. She was only a week old when we got her five years ago.
I ran upstairs and now I'm here. Writing about my day just like I always do. This day was a change though. No normal observations about the rest of the world. Today it was about me.
