Behind Closed Doors [A Shoey AU]

Chapter 10

*Joey's point of view*

Me and Luke both ran back into the room and crowded around his bed.

"Shane di-did Cullen do this to you?" Luke asked.

Cullen's the one in mine and Shane's gym class. The one who said-who said Shane was checking me out. Maybe, just maybe he was looking at me. Maybe he think's I'm cute. Just thinking about Shane liking me gives me butterflies.

Shane looked around before answering Luke. "Ya, It was but please don't say anything I don't want to get into more trouble with him and I especially don't want him hurting any of you guys."

Just as he finished Lisa, Ingrid and Meghan ran into the room and crowded the bed along side Me and Luke. Meghan gave me a hug.

"Thank god you're alright. I heard you fainted." she released the hug and looked over at Shane. She bent down and hugged him and whispered something in his ear. Just as she did Shane's face went red and he looked over at me. What did she tell him.

*Shane's point of view*

Meghan whispered in my ear. "Joey doesn't like me, but he seems to think you're pretty cute." I instantly blushed. So does that mean, that Joey's gay? Does that mean he likes me?

"I'm so happy you two are alright. Otherwise we couldn't have had movie night tomorrow." She winked at me and let out a little smirk.

Ingrid made her way around the bed and hugged Luke. "Hunny we should go. Lets leave the two guys with there best friends." Luke nodded and grabbed her hand and made his way out the door. "See you guys tomorrow."

Lisa stood on one side of the bed and Joey and Meghan stood on the other side. Lisa still hadn't said anything to me. She just looked worried. We stood in silence for about 30 seconds before Lisa started crying and bent down to hug me. "I really hate that stupid kid." She must have known it was Cullen. She always knew. He never left me alone. Joey patted the back of Lisa's back just as I wrapped my arm around her. Our hand's touched. His were warm and soft. I should've pulled away but I didn't and neither did he.

I set my hand on Lisa's back and Joey put his hand on top of mine. I looked over at him and he smiled at me. There were tears in his beautiful emerald eye's but I think they were happy tears. Lisa let go of the hug and forced mine and Joey's hand's apart. It was kind of upsetting. It felt nice hugging my best friend and almost holding hands with the guy I liked.

"So, Shane." She paused for a second and hesitated before finishing. "Why did you run out of the classroom?" I immediately looked over at Joey before looking over at her again.

"Um" I tried thinking of a lie. I couldn't tell them the truth. Joey-Joey doesn't like me, he just can't. I'm nothing to like. I'm disgusting. "I felt sick." I tried looking her right in the eyes to make sure I wasn't coming off as a liar.

"Mhmm." Meghan looked at Joey then looked at me.

Meghan eye'd Lisa for a second and made a head signals towards the door. Me and Joey both knew what they were doing. They wanted us alone. Meghan's signals apparently worked because Lisa turned and grabbed Meghan's arm on the way out. They chuckled right as they got out the doorway.

Me and Joey were now alone.

"So." Joey said sitting down in the chair beside my bed. "You're gay?" He looked up at me. I immediately put my head down. What if he's homophobic and Meghan is to and they hate me and they were just trying to fuck with my feelings. No they don't seem like those types of people but almost everyone hates me even really nice people.

"Who-Who told you that?" I tried avoiding the question.

"Well I thought you and Lisa were together and then somebody told me you were gay." Joey scratched the back of his head. I'm sure he felt as awkward as me.

"Um, well ya. I am-I am gay." I looked back up and saw him. There was a glowing in his eyes. "Why did you wanna know?" I was curious. Maybe he is gay to.

"Well because" He cleared his throat. "because I am to."

My heart skipped a beat. I sat up and immediately regretted it because a pain shot through me, It was as if I was being punched once again. I winced in pain. Joey got up and grabbed my hand.

"Shane are you okay?" His eye's scanning my body now.

*Joey's point of view*

It hurt's me seeing Shane in pain. I just wanted him to be okay. I scanned his body with my eye's checking over every little part as if somehow that would stop his pain. My eye's stopped at his wrists. Without even thinking about it, I moved my other hand to touch it. His wrist shot back and Shane eye's were filled with fear.

"Shane, Did- Do you self harm?" I asked him, my voice was shaking. The thought of somebody as perfect to me as Shane hurting himself made me want to cry.

Shane looked scared. His eye's began to fill with tears again and his head dropped down so he was facing his lap. I didn't know what to do so I just stood in silence for a couple of seconds before reaching down and hugging him. I ran my fingers through his hair with one hand and patted his back with the other.

Shane's tears were now covering my shirt. I just wish I could make all his pain stop. Maybe I can. Maybe I can help him through this. I can be his hero. I can help him stop doing the things he does behind closed doors. I can protect him from Cullen and all the other things in his life.

I put my hands on Shane's shoulders not too hard and pushed him back. Then I leaned in and rested my forehead on his. "Shane, please don't ever hurt yourself again." I leaned forward and let my lips collide with his. His lips were soft. I felt weightless. My head felt like it had floated away from my body. I brought my left hand up to touch his face and forced myself to end the kiss.

A voice came from the doorway "Well then now that that's all settled." I quickly turned my head around. I really hope they didn't see what just happened. Actually you know what I don't even care. I want people to know I like Shane. It was Lisa and Meghan was standing there with her.

Meghan began speaking "Shane, the doctor say's you can leave now, you just have to rest for a while." Before we could even say anything Lisa interrupted. "That means Joey it would be a good idea if you didn't visit Shane's bedroom." She and Meghan stared laughing just as Lisa grabbing Meghan's wrist and forced her to leave the room.

Mine and Shane's faces went completely red. I looked back at Shane and he smiled at me. Is this the start of us?
