With my fist is buried into the hood of my uncle's car, I look through the windshield to see one, no, two terrified faces: my step aunt Carol, and my uncle Mark. Siege has a muzzle on and has been leashed to the back seat, looking rather pissed off. I pull the back door open and saw the leash apart, and pull off the muzzle. Siege barks back in thanks. (I guess)
"What the hell did you think you could pull?"
"I told you Jack. You need to come with us."
"For fucks sake. You kidnapped my dog, and forced me to leave my friend bleeding on my floor. Fuck you, that's all I have to say."
I slammed the door and stalked off back toward my house, calling a still on guard Siege to follow me. I close the door behind me and Siege instantly picks up on the smell of blood and charges up the stairs. I quickly run after him and stop at the bathroom door to see Dakota rolled over on his side, still covered in his blood. Except... He's crying?
"Dakota?"
"..."
"Let me help you."
"... You can't help me."
"Why can't I?"
"The menace's blood is in my system."
Reality slowed to a vault. Everyone knows that if any dark force's blood hits your own... It's death spelled out in crimson letters.
"I... I can try."
"No Jack. It isn't going to work."
"Dammit Dakota it has to!"
I crawl over and hold him, ignoring the blood. Nothing in the world could stop me from helping him in this moment. I don't care about the blood, or the black matter pouring from his chest, I have to save him.
I keep holding him, and I take his wrist in my hand, pressing on the single stone attached to his bracelet, activating a holographic display similar to mine.
Dakota:
HP: 10/6000Shit. I gotta act fast.
I press several sequences on his panel, until by instinct I find the correct action.
Emergency Healing.
I hit the button with enough force to break my finger, but it simply passes through the panel like it has been. Dakota is engulfed in an emerald colored light. He rises off of the floor and hovers above the floor before being re-positioned into a stance.
The light slowly fades to show the still shirtless Dakota standing on the tile floor, his eyes burning with an emerald light within his irises. That light also faces and his normal, but still stunning, bright emerald eyes show through the fading energy.
"Well that was... Interesting." He says with an amused tone.
"Interesting? You scared the shit out of me!"
"I was scared too!"
"Okay, well, you weren't the one holding a dying friend!"
"I was the dying friend."
"...touché."
Dakota taps his screen a few more times before closing it.
"Whatever that healing thing was, it has a week long cool down now."
"Are you okay?"
"I mean, I'm standing half naked in your bathroom after nearly dying a slow and painful death. Sure lets say I'm fine."
