Today is the day. The day to leave home and go to London, England. Its 10:30am and I'm double checking that I have everything I need. My older brother Tommy walks in and sits on my bed.
"Do you have to go?" He asks staring at me as I franticly run around my room collecting my things.
"I'm not going to be gone for that long." I say zipping up my suitcase.
" Two years Mace." He said raising an eyebrow.
"Ok two years is a long time but Ill come back." I said sitting down.
The room fell silent.
"Have you got the letter yet?" I asked Tommy.
He's three years older than me and is trying to go into the army.
"Yeah, I have actually." He said sighing.
"Well?!" I asked staring at him.
"I got in." He said with no emotions.
"Thats great!" I said smiling.
"Yeah, but when you come back I won't be here." He said.
My smile left my face. The thought of not seeing my brother, the one who has always been there for me, made me think of all the possibilities of not seeing him ever again.
I sat and leaned onto his shoulder. We stare at the wall infront of us, not caring what one another was thinking.
Just trying to save the moment.
He soon gets up and walks to my draws. He picks up a photo and gives it to me.
"Take that with you." He said, then left the room.
I looked down to see what photo he gave me. Its a photo of me and him at a carnival a couple years ago.
He's wearing a black top, showing off his muscles, denim jeans and big boots. His brown hair is spicked at the front and hes putting his tan arm around me, a little, skinny thirteen year old whos wearing an old football hoddie her dad gave to her, some denim shorts and a pair of black vans.
I smile as I think back to that day, then I unzip my suitcase and put the photo right on top.
I change my clothes and put on a plain black top, some light blue, denim skinny jeans, a pair of white converses and wrap a red and black checkered flannel around my waist.
I look in the mirror and fluff my chocolate brown hair a little. I put on a grey bennie, grab my suitcase and walk down stairs.
I walk to the car and put my stuff in the boot, when I feel a pair of muscular arms wrap around me.
I turn around to be faced with my friend Troy. "Hey." I said, giving him a hug.
"Mmmm, I dont know why you have to go." He said, hugging me tightly.
I hug back and soon break apart. "Well, I have to go." I said getting out of his embrace.
I hop in the car and he just starts walking home.
We're not like friends with benefits or anything we just... have a weird relationship.
My brother hops in the drivers seat and we start to back out.
"Mace!" Someone shouts. I look out my window to see my best friend Paris running up the street.
Tommy stops the car and I quickly hop out to hug her.
"Were you really just going to leave without saying goodbye?" She asked.
"Of corse not." I said pulling out of the hug.
