Cara's POV
The bus ride was legit like two hours. We didn't have as much fun as we usually do on the bus because half of us could barely keep our eyes open. We all had a turn nodding off while staring at the city lights out the window. I usually listen to music going to sleep so I had my headphones in but didn't sleep much. I slept a bit longer than I planned on the plane so I wasn't that tired.
Finally after an extremely long day and night of traveling, we arrived at the Bush Hotel.
We walked out of the bus like zombies and got our bags. "Maaaaaaaam? Wheres mam? There you are, get me bags there mam girl ", Kayla said to a stranger on the street. She wasn't drunk only tired but it did look like she was after a few. We are only staying a couple of weeks but it looked like Courtney, Peyton and I were moving in. Courtney and I basically brought our bed and closet and Peyton brought her whole flipping room.
When we were walking in Courtney went flying into Jason after tripping over one of her bags. Pillows went everywhere. "CHRIST!", Courtney screamed in in the middle of her fall then burst into laughter. I love It, she'd be falling one second and all serious then the next she'd be crying of laughter. It took her a while to finally hit the ground with all the pillows in her way. Before we walked in Edward, Charles and Ben looked up to the top of the building and you could hear them gulp.
I tripped over a few times struggling to carry my bags and pillows into the lobby. "Here, let me help you", James insisted standing directly over me as I was practically on the floor with my luggage. I melted and froze right there and it took me a while to finally answer. "Eh yeah sure thanks", I said awkwardly with a wide smile on my face.I was staring at him for a while without realising the time was still going. He took my bags with a confused and awkward face on him which made me snap out of it. I was then able to walk normally over to the receptionist.
"Hi, can I help you?", the receptionist said in a creepy robotic voice. "Ehm, Cara Wilson", I replied to her slightly creeped out. She quickly smacked the keyboard with her fingers and began typing. Typing my name I guess.
She stopped typing and froze, eyes broad. I looked at Ali who was standing next to me also confused and creeped out by her.
I could see her pick up a picture and then quickly glanced back up at me. Ali and I slightly stepped back causing the rest of the class to step back with us, in sink. I could see a smirk on her face start to appear. Edward looked like he was going to throw up. I really need to ask him what he knows.
"Yes, here", she handed me my room key with the number on it, not wiping that same smirk off her face.
I quickly got my bags and waited on a couch for every one else. We were all seeing who had a room together and it turns out we all got separate rooms on our own. That really sucked. We didn't really care what our room number was, we were going to have like a sleepover every night anyway. All our rooms were in the same long corridor. We all went into our rooms on our own first to unpack. It was around 2 am but only a few of us were tired. I decided to unpack seeing as I was wide awake.
Knock, knock, knock. I heard a knock on the door, assuming it was Ms.Bennett checking on me or one of my friends. "Its open". I continued unpacking but no one walked in.
"Hello? Anyone there?". I walked over to the door confused. I opened it. Nothing. I looked down the hallway to see absolutely no one in sight. You could here a pin drop. I ignored it and went back to unpacking.
The door knocked again. I froze. "Hello?". Silence. There was a knock once more."Okay guys this is getting annoying just come in or go away". Another knock against my door.
I tip toed over quietly and quickly opened the door and looked down the hallway. Nothing. I ran back into the room and locked the door. I closed the blinds and picked up a chair. I waited.
I heard another knock on the door. I dropped the chair and hid behind it. I said nothing and waited for another knock. "Cara, you there? It's Ken". I heard Ken call from the other side of the door. I let out a huge breath of relief and ran to open the door.
"Seriously dude? Come on don't do that, not cool", I complained knowing it was him.
"What?", he answered, confused. "Oh don't play dumb Ken, you were knocking on my door and running away or hiding or something". "Woah, Cara you trying to fool me or something because like no". "What ? Fool you about what !?". "Hahah, phew it was obviously you so if you are saying I did it to you", Ken stated relieved.
"What do you mean it was obviously me?" I questioned getting worried. "Doing what Ken?".
"You were knocking on my door, weren't you ?", he questioned me, realising I had no idea.
"Yo Ken I swear on my flippin fridge! I did not knock on your door !", I half yelled.
"SHIT your telling the truth".
We both exchanged glances and slowly stepped away from the door.
"Okay, ehm, why eh, why are you here?", I tried changing the subject. "Well I heard knocks on my door which creeped me out a bit so I came to yours to ask if you want to go have a look around. To get my mind off the creepy knocks and I'm just bored, I don't know what to do at 3am". "Uh well you could sleep couldn't you?", I half stated and asked him.
"I slept six hours on the plane, I'm wide awake", he argued.
"Ya well if you don't go to sleep now you won't be able to stay awake during the day so just attempt it or rest or something. Tire yourself out".
"Ah come on", he kept going with the discussion. "Look, no I'm tired myself so I'm going to sleep after I unpack", I lied. "Go ask Luke or something, we just got here I wanna settle in".
"Fine, tomorrow night then?", he negotiated. "Or are you scared to go for a wander. Oh maybe that's it you arn't tired you're just scared. Okay then I guess I'll go ask the fox's, I guess the chickens are busy", he teased convincing me to go.
"Okay I know what you are doing but you went far enough to persuade me", I took out a t-shirt and threw it on the bed.
"Hah ! I love slagging you". I groaned. We walked around the corridor for a bit and couldn't find the stairs. Well that's what I was looking for anyway, he was looking for the elevator.
"Here we are !". "Yup stairs right there lets go", I fast walked over. "Aha no I meant the elevator". "Ken you know I'm claustrophobic", I was saying panicking to breathe on the spot. "Jesus you lost like half your oxygen today, first planes now elevators, G where's that laughing pill thing when ya need it", he mocked. "Shut up it's not my fault". "I know but come on its only an elevator". I ignored and slowly walked to the stairs. The elevator door opened and next thing I knew I was in there. "KEN, WTF ! REALLY !". The doors already closed and I was taking huge breaths. "It's paranoya Cara come on I'm breathing fine that means there's loads of oxygen". "Yeah no shit but my mind is telling me there's none!". I tried calming myself down so I stayed quiet. "Look 39 floors, I can't wait to tell Edward he's wrong, because you know he's always right". I glared at him still a bit pissed.
"Ugh lighten up a bit girl". He mocked how me and the girls talk so I couldn't help but snicker. We were exploring the hotel for about forty minutes. We kept getting lost and couldn't find the stairs. Again that's what I was looking for. We were getting a bit bored so we were looking to go back to our floor. "Okay tomorrow night we will go early if we arn't all in the pub or something and we will get lost on purpose because I love trying to find how to get back", Ken planned. "Same to be honest, fine we will. Lets get back now so we can sleep". "Yes we have to be wide awake for our big adventure tomorrow", he said almost jumping of excitement.
"Hey look we are on floor 27, that's our floor isn't it ?", I asked a bit confused because we took no stairs or elevator since the first time.
AAHHHHHHHHHH AAHHHHHHHHHH AAHHHHHHHHHH.
"HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!", Ken shouted standing right next to me as if u couldn't hear him.
I froze with complete fear. "Cara please tell me you heard those screams. "No Ken I just feel like looking traumatised".
We were standing near enough to a corner and we heard footsteps come closer. We both stood there and waited hoping it was someone we new.
"MOTHER OF GOD", I screamed when Ms.Bennett walked right into me. "Dear God Cara I'm sorry I didn't see you love. Hem what do ye think yeare doing out this late in the morning, hmmm?"
"Eh well we were just looking for you". She raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "Ya I usually have warm milk before I sleep so I was wondering if you know is there a café open". Ken went along with it and nodded. "At 3am? Nah I don't think so honey now get back to you're rooms, ye need some sleep". She smiled at us both and walked through us. "Wait ! Ms.Bennett", Ken called. I looked at him. "Yes ?", she answered sweetly but annoyed. "Did you hear a scream a minute ago? It sounded like a girl screaming for her life", Ken said barely able to spit it out.
"I'm sure there would have been complaints or confused people standing in the hallways now if there was"
"No miss you would have heard and actually you did hear it", I blurted out. "Excuse me?", she fully turned around facing me now. "Don't tell me I'm going crazy because I'm not, Ken heard it too, if only one of us heard it there's a problem but if both of us heard it, it couldn't have been in our head", I stated proving my point.
"Now I'm going to ask you .. Did. You. Here. A. Girl. Scream.?". I raised an eyebrow. She looked at me then hesitated. We waited.
"Look go back to your rooms I think ye need a lot of sleep. Good night kids". She half stormed off.
We knew she was acting strange. "What was that about?", Ken started. "I don't know, but I know she knows something and I'm starting to think that wasn't a little girl".
"Well it was hardly a ...". I nodded. "No Cara it couldn't have been". "It was Ken", I said calmly but was actually just terrified with no expression. "No Cara they're fake, they're all made up bull shit".
"Okay think about it Ken, the knocks, I opened my door and there was no one. I would have heard or saw someone run into a room and they couldn't have legged it down the hall and I'm not goimy crazy because it happened to you too and you heard that scream so did Ms.Bennett. Why did she lie? That's for us to find out.", I said figuring things out. "Ken, Edward, Charles and Ben aren't the only ones who knows something about this place and tomorrow we ask them what they know".
"Okay I'm gonna go sleep and if I hear anything I'm going straight to your room. Now that you are saying its a -"
"Ken ! You know I'm like one of the last people to actually believe in this, sure I tell creepy stories thinking they're true but no it is what it is !".
"Cara.."
"Look we better get back maybe it's all on our heads okay ya that's it we are absolutely crazy".
"Can we just forget about tonight?", Ken asked wanting this to be over.
"Fine, see you at breakfast"
"See ya""I'm not forgetting about this, I need to talk to Edward". I thought to myself as I walked in to my room and closed the door.
