Chapter 11 - The Note

Cara's POV

"What happened !? How did you guys get here !? Where's the way out !?", I shouted at them with hope and confusion.
"We couldn't find you guys so we got worried and checked the CCTV so we saw you pressing the 40th floor and you guys were all scared and shit and the camera went so we had to check it out to try and find ye, and thank the Lord we did ! And no we didn't even check for a way out", Lauren told us.

"You shouldn't have come here, this is dangerous, Ken and I went in the elevator and pressed 26 but ended back up here and the same happened with the stairs and then the, the stairs they, they switched direction and guys I know I sound crazy but I'm not this floor is dangerous and we need to go !", I was telling them with panic.

"We can't go yeeet...", Luke gave an 'oops' kind of smile.
"What?", Ken and I asked.
Lauren and Luke looked at each other.
"We didn't come here alone... we sorta came with Daniel, Courtney, James an-", Luke got cut off by me.
"Wait where are they!?", I glared.
"Yeah we kind of lost them, strange shit was happening and then the lights turned off, James panicked and shouted run and we just kinda ran you know?", Luke explained sounding like he felt stupid.
"Are you serio-", I got interrupted.
"Eh Cara, there is one more thing", Lauren started.
"What?".
"Stuart is with them", she said making a worried face.

"ARE YOU FOR REAL !? Oh my god oh my god this isn't happening this isn't happening", I dug my head in my hands.
"Are you sure he's even with them for all we know we ran up the walls and through the bloody ceiling this IS Stuart like?", I shouted at them.

"Okay Cara look, dumb idea but he's with Daniel, James and Courtney they are fairly strong like he will be fine", Lauren tried calming me down.
"I can only relax if this was a promise", I said scrunching my eyes.
"I promise", she told me.
I opened my eyes and squinted. "I hope so. Come on we need to find them", I started walking.
"Wait where am I going what hall are we taking ?", I said turning around to them with my hands up in question.

"We don't know we ran in the pitch black, hitting into things, turning corners, so right now we kinda just have to guess", Lauren said hopelessly.

"Right lads, let's try this way, will we ?", Luke asked us. We all looked at each other and nodded.
"This way", Lauren said.

The next morning for the rest of the class

Kayla's POV

"I'll just have an orange juice please", I said in a tired tone. "Not hungry ma'am?", the waitress asked sounding like a robot. Jesus they all sound like fecking robots here. "No I'm fine", I waved my hand.
"And for you girls?", the robot asked Ella and Peyton. "I'll have an orange as well please", Ella said also in a tired tone. "Apple juice please", Peyton said as if she was a robot too.
"Coming right up".

"See ya robot", I said under my breathe and Ella and Peyton heard and giggled.
"Where's the others?", Ella asked us.
I don't know I woke up in my bed this morning last thing I remember was ordering a tray of shots at that pub", I told them rubbing my pounding head.

"Shit same", Peyton said confused.
Ella laughed at us.
"We were langers last night lads", Ella sighed because she had a headache too and Peyton also.
"But shit I didn't see Cara or Ken there either actually", I said sitting up straight a bit. "They still missing?", Ella asked.
"Probably", I replied.

"Wait didn't Courtney and them leave after like 2 minutes last night?", Peyton asked us.
"Did they?", Ella asked.
"Think so, I'm sure there was Courtney, Lauren, Daniel and Luke and I'm sure they left with Stuart as well", Peyton said sort of questioning herself as well.

"Yeah I don't remember them being there last night actually", I said raising an eyebrow.
"Same", Ella looked at me in thought. We all exchanged looks when we all jumped at the tray hitting the table.

"Your drinks", the robot waitress stated the obvious.
"Ssshhiiiiiiit !", Peyton shouted. We all looked at her. "Fuck that scared the living day lights out of me", Peyton put her hand to her heart. Ella and I giggled.

"Cheers", I looked up to no one.
"Where the fuck she go?", I asked them.
"Don't know, don't give a shit", Ella started drinking her orange juice.
I snickered and drank my juice.

"I'm calling Cara", Peyton took out her phone.
"Do ya even have credit?", I asked her knowing she had none.
"Shit ya Ella give us your phone there girl", Peyton put down her phone and Ella handed her the phone.

"Sound", she started dialling the number, put it on speaker and put it down on the table.
Voice mail.
"Nah it's not dead she would a have charged it, she would have replied, she would have texted us, contacted us, she wouldn't ignore it like that", I said putting down my glass.
"And plus her snap streaks", Peyton added. We looked at each other in thought. We all chugged down our drinks and left the money on the table.

"Who's room are we checking?", Ella asked.
"Cara, Ken, Lauren, Courtney, Daniel, Luke, Stuart and James", I said taking a breathe.
"Trek why did we have to get separate rooms?", Peyton questioned.
"I dunno something a bit fishy about this hotel", Ella said.
"You think?", I asked.
"I know", she said.
"The robot voices, the separate rooms, the knocking on the doors, the missing friends", Ella said and giggled at the missing friends bit knowing they probably weren't actually missing.
"Woah the knocking on the doors? That happened to you too?", Peyton stopped and asked.
"Yeeaaahh and I checked and there was nothing there", Ella said slowly and raising an eyebrow.
"Are you serious !? That happened to me too but I didn't want to say anything", Peyton said looking worried.
They both looked at me.
"Fine ! It happened to me too", I said acting annoyed. We looked at each other creeped out.

"We got to find our friends, now", Peyton said as she started walking and so did we.

We knocked on every door and no answer but everyone else we didn't mention that could be missing answered. We knocked on miss Bennetts door. She opened it slowly as if she was expecting someone dangerous.

"Girls, good morning how are we?", she asked opening the door fully and maybe even acting a little fishy.
"We need to check all CCTV footage, NOW", I ordered and I was as deadly serious as my tone.
She froze.

Cara's POV

We were walking for about 10 minutes talking about all the creepy shit that happened to us. Nothing happened when we were talking about it, nothing at all. No noises, no voices, no nothing. I know I sound crazy when I say that.
We came to a hallway with double doors at the end. We all looked at each other and started walking down to it. Halfway down the hallways Luke stopped us all. "Wait what's that?", Luke pointed to a piece of paper hung up in the middle of the doors. "Let's go check", I said as we continued walking towards it.

It was a note.

"What the fuck is this?", I said taking it off the doors.
"A note", Ken said getting creeped out.
"Read it", Lauren said.

I took a deep breathe knowing this can't be good.

It read :
"Welcome, right now you are reading this which means you are stuck in the 40th floor. In order to escape you must enter these double doors and it brings you to part 2 of the 40th floor. You will be stuck in here until you pass the test. You will be facing your worst fears, defeat them and you escape, fail and we control your life unless you choose to die slowly.
Good luck Cara, Ken, Lauren and Luke, you have 30 minutes, we are timing you.
The timer starts when you walk through those doors.
