Hey guys! Just before this chapter begins, I want to let you know that I have had really bad writers block for what to do next. I'm going on school camp next week for the whole week, with obviously no writing there, and I really need to get a chapter out. So, because I couldn't think of anything, I'm timeskipping two years, so that I can write a proposal and a marriage (something I've been really looking forward to). Sorry everyone! I'll write an extra long chapter. Don't hate me please! Thank you!
Ron's POV, two years later
"Son, just speak from the heart. You don't need a big fancy palaver. When I proposed to your mother, all I did was take her out to dinner and as we were walking home I popped the question. Nothing too elaborate." My dad tells me, as we sit in The Burrow together.
"But Dad, it's Hermione. She likes elaborate stuff. This needs to be perfect, and I don't know how." I reply despairingly, putting my head in my hands.
Dad smiles. "Ron, this girl has been waiting for you to propose from virtually the day you met her. Anything you say will do the trick. You could be watching Friends at home, eating ice-cream straight from the tub, and she would still love it!"
I roll my eyes. "Thanks, I think? I'll figure something out. See you Dad." I stand up and stretch, walking over to the coming and going room. I take a handful of floo powder, throw it into the fireplace and yell "The Three Broomsticks!"
Hermione's POV
"Mum, is he ever going to propose? I mean does he love me or not?" I appeal to my mum, sitting at the kitchen table at her house in Oxford.
She chuckles. "Sweetie, think about it. Is Ron romantic?"
I answer without thinking. "Yeah of course! I remember one time I got home from work and there were rose petals all over the bed and he was lying on the bed with a rose in between his teeth and I ran over to him and we-"
"Woah woah woah honey! Let's keep this PG! I don't need the details!"
I blush.
"Anyway, if he's romantic, he probably has a beautiful proposal prepared, a big palaver. Those things take time. It'll happen soon, he probably just really wants it to be perfect. He probably thinks you won't say yes unless it's perfect."
I gasp. "No way! I'd say yes if he did anything! I might be a little disappointed if something wasn't right, but-"
"He knows you too well! Just bide your time. You love him, and he loves you, so it's bound to happen."
Ron's POV
The stage is set for the proposal, but I need to set it out in my head one last time...
She loves scrapbooking. I don't know why, it's just her 'thing'. I've always thought it was weird, but I always loved doing the scrapbook about our love story with her. It always made reminisce about all the fun times we have. Stop in Ronald, you're tearing up! Anyway, I've decided to include that in my proposal.
This is how it will work. After dinner at her favourite Muggle restaurant, I will convince her to come with me to an unbeknown-to-her location. She will say yes ( if she doesn't I will smile at her with that goofy smile we both know she can't resist), and we will Apparate together to this location. We will arrive at a grassy hill under the stars. We will walk up the hill, and at its peak will be a picnic blanket. We will sit on the blanket, and I will open the picnic basket to reveal our love story scrapbook.
I will hand the scrapbook to her. She will open it, and see the envelope that is in the first page. She will open the envelope, and read the handwritten note I have written for her, about how much I love her. Then she will look up to see me on one knee, holding out a ring. Perfect! She won't be able to resist this!
Hermione's POV
"Ron, where on earth are we going?" I ask, as we walk to a safe Apparation area after dinner at my favourite restaurant.
"You'll see!" He smiles at me, and we Disapparate together.
We arrive- in the middle of nowhere? There seems to be a small hill, but apart from that... Oh well. I trust Ron.
We walk up the hill together. As we walk together, I watch him interestedly. He gets a worried expression on his face, reaches into his pocket, and he relaxes again. What is he doing? We reach the top,and I spy a picnic blanket and basket.
Ron sits on the picnic blanket, and I join him, still a little bewildered. He opens the picnic basket and- is that our love story scrapbook? The one with photos , movie stubs and receipts from all the dinners we've been on? He hands it to me, saying, "I thought we could do the scrapbook under the stars."
I open the book to see an envelope. What in the name of Merlin is Ron up to? I open the envelope to see a note that Ron seems to have written.
Hermione,
I fell in love with you when I first met you, and I have never stopped. Every day with you is a dream, and I never want to wake up. I love you.
-Ron
I look up, tears in my eyes, to see Ron on one knee, holding out a beautiful ring. I gasp, knowing this is the moment he has been planning, the moment I have been waiting for.
"Hermione Jean Granger," he swallows, and breathes in and out. "will you marry me?"
The tears are flowing freely now, from both of us.
"Of course I will!" I whisper.
He slides the ring onto my finger. It fits perfectly. He kisses me gently, and I kiss him back. It's a kiss that defines everything about us, about our love, and proves that through everything, there will always be Romione.
A/N
OMG I love this chapter! It's my longest one ever, and definitely my favourite. Did you like the proposal? I got the note inside the scrapbook idea from a Youtuber called BdoubleO100, who proposed to his wife in this way. I hope you love this as much as I do!
