"Lean on me Mary, come on." We were almost out of the prison. But, Mary wasn't doing to well. "I can't." She said. "Lean on me Dammit." We kept walking. She stopped. I heard voices of guards down the hall. I carefully picked her up. "Put me down Edward." She asked, so I did. At first I thought she was a goner, but Then, thank God, she started talking. But, this wasn't the Mary I knew. She kept asking me to keep promises, like she was leaving. 'Mary!' I loudly whispered. With what little strength she had left, she gave me a painful smile. "I'll be with you, Kenway, I will." Then, she, she was.. gone. I had never cried, never felt pain, but now, this, was the worst thing I've ever felt. Like a part of me died. Like I was missing something. This might've never happened if I just listened to her. We might be in Tulum together training with her family of assassins. Or off on a contract, like the inseparable duo we were. No. I WILL have my revenge. I WILL kill Torres. I WILL find her daughter. "I WILL have my revenge. " I said. "I Promise, I'll have my revenge on them Mary. I promise." I carefully lifted her up. I slowly walked out. When I got their, Ah Tabai was waiting, he looked nervous and Anne, in pain. I walked up. "Is she gone?" He asked. I set her down, straightened her robes, fixed her braids, and took a step backwards, answering his question. Anne cried. I almost did. Ah Tabai handed me my robes. "You haven't earned these, but, they suit you." Almost welcoming me to the family. "What will you do now?" He asked. Revenge, I wanted to, but that'd be taking a step backwards. "Nothing sensible." I said. I meant it.
