It's been 2 weeks. Mary still hasn't woken up. Every morning and night I sing the parting glass. Maybe it'll make her dream and wake up. I was hopeful. My wound was still open, and healing, but I had to get over it. I decided to take Emily to town in Havana with one of the schooners to make the trip quicker.

The trip to Havana must've taken a week or so. When we got there, it was lively and fun, after Torres' death. Me and Emily stopped at a few small shops. I bought her a wooden doll that was beautiful. We went looking around. I told Emily to pick something out for Mary. She chose a beautiful necklace. The price wasn't as beautiful, but for Mary, anything. I loved her. Something possessed me, I don't know what, but something possessed me to buy, a wedding ring. Was I really going to do this? I was still legally married to Caroline, but she didn't love me. And, I really hadn't loved her anymore. Mary, ever since the day on the windmill, in Kingston, I loved her. She was my best friend as James Kidd, and I want to marry her as Mary Read.

I bought it. When she healed and we got back to Inagua, I would propose. For her, and Emily. I promised Mary I would always be there, and I will do all in my power to keep that promise. Even if she didn't say yes, which was more likely, I would keep it for the furture.

"Look father!" Emily said pointing at a stuffed ocelot. "Do you like it?" I asked her. She nodded. I bought it for her. What's a few more reales. Then, I saw guards. This wasn't right. Why were they headed toward us. They drew their swords. One took Emily by the arm. That's all I needed to send them to hell. I drew my sword. The one holding Emily put a knife to her. He was begging to go to hell. "Drop the weapon and we might just spare her life." Not on my watch. With the fastest speed that I've ever had, I took out all of the guards, grabbed Emily, put her on my back, jumped into the schooner, and we left as quick as possible. I didn't know who was controlling the Templars now. But they fucked with the wrong family. I went back to the island. It took another week. When we got back, I paid some men to stand guard. Mary still hadn't waken up. Emily was close to being 3. I hoped Mary would wake up in time.

That night, I went back and sang to her. Emily slept on the boat with Anne, while I kept trying to wake up Mary. I resumed the song. "So fill, to me, the parting glass, goodnight and joy, be with you all."
