Mia's P.O.V

My dad slowly closed my bedroom door after saying goodnight to me. I lay still in my bed as I hear his heavy footsteps get quieter and quieter as he walks down the hall way. I breath in and out slowly as my heart feels like it's going a million miles per minute. I push my hand under my pillow, feeling the cold metal of my window key and freezing after I hear a loud laugh coming from inside the kitchen, but immediately relax after I realise it's just my dad's girlfriend. He's marrying her soon, she's nice and all...but I still find myself being very weary around her.

For another hour or two I lay on my back on my bed with my window key on my stomach. I've been waiting for my dad and his girlfriend to go to bed but they just keep on talking. And then I hear a door slam shut. My brothers home. My brother's not quite like me , but I still love him. He'll realise his soon to be regrets. I can hear his footsteps start to come up the hall way, but my dad interjects before he can go any further. Soon they're arguing and since no one has decided to go to bed yet, I decide its a perfect time to escape this hell hole. I sit up and threw my pyjamas over the top of my head. I then grab a pair of black leggings and a black top with short sleeves. I grab my turquoise back pack that is on the chair in my room and fill it with water, food, money and a spare change of clothes. I sling the back pack onto my back and grab my window key.

I unlock my window and try to slowly pry it open. Some how my window manages to not make a sound. I step onto the ledge, my black boots providing me with a good amount of grip. As I look down from my window on the second story of my house, memories start to flood back into my mind, my family and friends whizz past in my my mind, the good, the bad and the very bad.

'
"Mia come back inside!" called out my dad.

"Whyyyyyyyy? I don't wanna," I whined.

" I have a little surprise," my dad said back.

"What is it daddy?" I said, eager to find out.

Just as I had said that a small puppy knocked me over and my little giggles filled the air. '

'

"Mia," my dad spoke behind me.

"Don't bother, I heard everything," my voice weirdly serious for an eight year old," Mum's not gonna be here anymore is she?"

"Spot on," was all he said before turning away.

'

" ITS NOT YOUR PLACE TO SAY MIA!" Jake shouted at me.

"Im trying to help," I pleaded.

"WELL ITS NOT HELPING!" he screamed " I WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN,"

One minute I was standing up right arguing with my fourteen year old brother and then I was on the kitchen floor doubled over in pain. He hit me, the pain in my stomach was unbearable. ' Theres going to be a bruise latter on. Damnit.' I thought.

Those were some of the memories that flooded my mind. They never left me alone.

My family doesn't appreciate the things I do for them, always criticising my on my every move. I hate it. I hate my life, so I'm running away. How long? I don't know. All I know is that I want out. Now.

I jump from the ledge of my window onto the lower roof of the garage and then onto the grass. My dog Sunny starts to bark at the noise and I can see his shiny golden coat rush up to the gate that leads to the backyard.

" Shhh," I hush and grab the note out of my pocket and slip it into his collar.

" I'll be back, I promise," and with that I run down my street, swiftly tying my long brown hair into a pony tail and pulling on my black jacket and zipping it up.

It was a cold night and I could see my breath as I zip past the flickering street lamps.

They'll understand one day. I can't let my plan go to waste after all that planning. I had to make one more stop before I seep into the shadows.

Half an hour later I'm at my best friends, Rose's house. I grab out the other note and some blue tack. I walked up to her window and stuck the blue tack on and placed my note over it.

Don't worry, I'll be careful and I promise that I wont die.

- Sincerely your best friend, Mia Gwen Boulevard.
